🌱What a fantastic National Science Week 2026!

Last week, our students celebrated National Science Week under the theme “Seeds of Science: Nurturing knowledge for all”, with a whole week of fun, creativity and hands-on science activities!

From Exploding Seeds on Monday and Seed Origami on Tuesday, to our Big Science Kahoot in the Lecture Theatre on Wednesday, students had plenty of opportunities to test their knowledge and get involved. Thursday saw students plant seeds and create grass heads, while Friday finished the week with our Seed Collection Competition and Marble Run challenge!

A huge thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the week such a success! We loved seeing our students being curious, creative and enthusiastic about science.

Year 10 Life Science – Introduction to Psychology!🧠

Our Year 10 Life Science students have been diving into their Introduction to Psychology unit, exploring the fascinating world of the human brain!

Students are learning about the structure and function of the brain, investigating its key regions and discovering how different areas work together to control our thoughts, emotions, behaviours and responses.

It’s been a fantastic opportunity for students to connect biology and psychology while gaining a deeper understanding of one of the most complex organs in the human body!

From Concrete to Creation!

Year 11 Technologies students are getting stuck into their concreting unit with a hands-on challenge designing and creating their very own concrete paver which sits on top of a fabricated frame to create a functional outdoor seat.!

From mixing and reinforcement to moulding, finishing, and curing, students are building real-world skills that will soon be put to the test. And this is just the beginning - this practical experience has provided an important foundation for the larger project ahead.! 👀

Next term, students will take on their biggest challenge yet and put their new skills into practice as they undertake the construction of a concrete footpath leading to the oval bus stop.

Learning, creating, and leaving their mark on our school grounds for years to come.

✨ Danc’Ed in the Spotlight 2026 ✨

What an incredible 13-hour day of dance! Our Dance Program students joined 18 high schools across Metropolitan North Brisbane for workshops in Contemporary, Jazz and Hip Hop, rehearsals and an amazing public performance.

A huge thank you to our supportive families and dedicated Dance teachers!

𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞

During EKKA week, Instrumental Music students took part in Soundcheck to Showtime, developing their ensemble, technical and performance skills.

Students worked with guest artists Mr Timo Jarvela and Dr Ralph Hultgren, performing original works and enjoying team-building activities.

The week wrapped up with performances at Aussie World, followed by rides, food and fun!

We are incredibly proud of our IM students for demonstrating our REAL values throughout the event. A big thank you to our Music staff, Mr Jarvela and Dr Hultgren for making it possible.

𝘽𝙤𝙤𝙠 𝙒𝙚𝙚𝙠 2026 𝙞𝙨 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙤 𝙃𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙎𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙧𝙮 𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙜𝙚!

Get ready to celebrate Book Week 2026 from 𝟮𝟰 – 𝟮𝟴 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 with this year’s theme, Symphony of Stories. Throughout the week, students can join in a range of fun activities at iServices, including the Symphony of Stories Quiz, Literacy Escape Room, Crime Scene Investigation, Five Second Rule Challenge, and the Sink or Survive Raft Challenge.

There will also be exciting prizes to win, a Golden Ticket Hunt running throughout the week, and a CARE Door Decorating Challenge to showcase creativity and love of reading.

We can’t wait to see everyone get involved in a week full of stories, imagination and fun!

Fuelled by our amazing community!

A HUGE shout-out and thank you to Subway Rothwell for supporting the Mango Hill SSC Dance Team with some much-needed healthy food fuel during an absolutely massive 13-hour day of workshops and performances!

Our dancers were SO appreciative of the delicious Subway meals. After hours of dancing, rehearsing, learning and performing, having a nutritious meal to refuel helped keep our dancers energised and sustained throughout the day.

For our dancers, days like this are physically demanding — and having the support of a local business like Subway Rothwell makes such a difference. Your generosity helped keep our dancers fuelled, focused and ready to give their absolute best on stage!

We are incredibly grateful to Subway Rothwell for investing in our students and supporting the arts in our local community. It is partnerships like this that help our young people thrive! Their support of our College and Dance Team deserves to be celebrated
