📸🐾 **THAT’S A WRAP, PEEPS… WHAT. A. WEEK!**

Seven workshop days. A whole lot of dogs. A mountain of learning. Plenty of lightbulb moments. And, judging by these photos… **a ridiculous amount of FUN!** 🤩

From **All Clear and Problem Solving** through to **Conservation & General Detection, Odour Generalisation, Discrimination, Off-Leash and Directional Training**, Paul Bunker of Chiron K9 certainly gave our brains a workout! 🧠🐕👃

But when we looked back through the photos, something else really stood out…

**We laughed. A LOT. 😂**

🐕 Dogs doing brilliant dog things
🧠 Brains working overtime
💡 Plenty of “AH-HA!” moments
👃 Sooooo much detection
😂 Questionable amounts of laughter
📸 And some absolutely GOLDEN moments caught on camera

THIS is what we love about bringing people together to learn.

Different dogs. Different backgrounds. Different areas of detection. Different experiences. Everyone sharing ideas, asking questions, supporting each other and being willing to have a crack.

No egos. No pressure to be perfect. Just **dogs, people, learning and a whole lot of fun along the way.** 💚

A massive thank you to **Paul** for sharing his knowledge, experience and humour so generously throughout the entire week, and to every working team and auditor who joined us and brought such fantastic energy to these workshops.

These photos pretty much sum it up…

**We came to learn about detection dogs.
We learnt HEAPS.
We laughed HEAPS.
We made new connections and friendships.
And we may have created a few new inside jokes along the way. 🤣**

What a crew.
What a week.
**What an absolutely brilliant way to learn.** 🐕👃🧠💚

📸🐾 **WOW… WHAT A COUPLE OF DAYS!**

Our **Conservation & General Detection Workshop with Paul Bunker of Chiron K9** has delivered two absolutely cracking days of dogs, detection, learning and, judging by these photos… **a whole lot of FUN!** 🤩

Sometimes the photos tell the story better than we ever could.

There were serious learning faces. There were lightbulb moments. There were dogs doing brilliant dog things. There were conversations, questions, problem solving and plenty of laughs along the way.

And THAT is exactly what we want a Dog Peeps workshop to feel like. 💚

A place where people can come together from different areas of detection work, share knowledge and experiences, ask questions, challenge their thinking and learn from each other, all while having a bloody good time doing it!

These photos capture so beautifully what happens around the learning. **The connections, the friendships, the laughter and the shared love of working with dogs.** 🐕👃

A massive thank you to **Paul** for another incredible couple of days and to every one of our working teams and auditors for throwing yourselves into the experience.

We think the smiles say it all. 😁

**Learning should be challenging. Learning should make you think. And every now and then, learning should also make you laugh until your face hurts.**

What a crew. What a workshop. What a couple of days! 💚🐾

🐾 **WHAT. A. TWO. DAYS.** 🐾

We’ve just wrapped up an incredible two days with **Paul Bunker of Chiron K9**, diving deep into the world of **Conservation and General Detection**, and our brains are officially FULL! 🧠🐕👃

Over the past two days we’ve explored **odour generalisation, discrimination, training methodology, problem solving and the many layers that go into developing a reliable detection dog**.

And perhaps one of the biggest takeaways has been the reminder that, regardless of what sits at the end of the search...

**Detection is detection.**

Whether our dogs are searching for a conservation target, an operational target or an odour used in sport, the foundations of good detection training remain remarkably consistent. Clear criteria. Thoughtful training. Understanding behaviour. Trusting the dog. And continually asking ourselves **why** we are seeing what we are seeing.

The conversations have been just as valuable as the practical work. Different backgrounds, different dogs, different applications and different experiences have created some fantastic discussions and shared learning across the group.

And the DOGS! ❤️

Watching such a diverse group of dogs work through problems, process information and show us exactly what they understand has been an absolute privilege. Every dog has added something to the learning.

A massive thank you to **Paul** for sharing his knowledge so generously and challenging us to think deeper about the way we train detection dogs.

And to our working teams and auditors, thank you for bringing your curiosity, questions, experiences and enthusiasm. You’ve helped create exactly the kind of learning environment we hoped these workshops would deliver.

Two days down in this block... and we’re not finished yet!

Next up, we turn our attention to **Off-Leash & Directional Training and Problem Solving**.

More dogs. More questions. More learning.

**Bring it on, Peeps!** 🐕👃🧠💚

📸🐾 **WHEN THE GUMBOOTS MEET THE DOG PEEPS…**

A huge thank you to **The Gumboot Chronicles – Fiona Gumboots** for joining us at our **Paul Bunker All Clear Workshop** and capturing so many fabulous moments across the three days.

Workshops like this are about so much more than what happens at the end of the lead. They’re about the conversations, the concentration, the lightbulb moments, the problem solving, the dogs doing their thing and, of course, the people learning right alongside them.

Fiona has done an incredible job of capturing all of that. ❤️

There’s something pretty special about being able to look back at a photograph and see a moment of learning frozen in time. A handler thinking, a dog working something out, Paul coaching a team, or everyone sharing one of those brilliant **“AH-HA!” moments** that made the workshop such a fantastic experience.

Thank you, Fiona, for quietly moving around our workshop, camera in hand and gumboots at the ready, documenting our Dog Peeps community doing what we love most… **learning with our dogs.** 🐕👃🧠

We absolutely LOVE the photos and can’t wait to share more of them with you, Peeps!

🎉🐾 WELL, THAT’S A WRAP PEEPS! 🐾🎉

The first of our three workshops with Paul Bunker of Chiron K9 is officially done… and what an incredible three days it has been!

We’re so happy to have the opportunity to bring world-class detection dog training to Tassie, and to deliver it at the incredible Coal Valley Equestrian Centre. 💙

Three days packed with learning, problem solving, All Clear training, conversations, questions, shared experiences and plenty of those brilliant 💡 “A-HA!” moments.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who attended, participated, asked questions, shared ideas and embraced the learning. You are what makes these workshops so worthwhile and our Dog Peeps community such a fantastic space to learn together.

And, of course, a massive thank you to Paul Bunker for sharing his knowledge, experience and enthusiasm so generously with us.

Workshop ONE ✅
Now Paul gets a very well-earned rest day… before we hit the ground running with Workshop TWO! 🐕👃🧠

World-class training. Tassie dogs. Great people. One seriously good weekend.

We don’t often post about our own personal dog sport results here at Dog Peeps. For us, this page has always been about learning, sharing knowledge, celebrating our clients and supporting the incredible teams around us.

But sometimes you have one of those weekends. 🐾💙

A weekend out with your own dogs, surrounded by our incredible clients, where all those hours, minutes and tiny moments of training suddenly come together.

The foundations.
The problem solving.
The reinforcement.
The mistakes that became learning opportunities.
The countless searches where nobody was watching.

And every now and then, it all clicks and you get to bring home the chocolates.

Or, in this case… the dog treats. 😂🐕🏆

A huge thank you to The Tasmanian Golden Retriever Club for another fantastic weekend of Scent Work and to judges Vicki Harris and Em Smyth for delivering some seriously challenging Ultimate, Masters and Excellent searches. They certainly gave the dogs and handlers plenty to think about, and that is exactly the kind of challenge we love.

And a very special thank you to Sniffing Zone and Mel Cleland for what might just be the BEST prize ever for Top Excellent Dog in Trial. 🎁🐾

That honour went to our gorgeous Wherryman It Happens Every Day, aka Hunter. 💙

There is something pretty special about looking across a table covered in qualifying certificates, ribbons and prizes and knowing that none of them happened in that moment.

They happened in all the little training moments that came before it.

And this weekend, those moments came together beautifully.

Congratulations Hunter. Top Excellent Dog in Trial. 🏆

And an enormous congratulations to all our Dog Peeps clients who were out there searching, learning, challenging themselves, supporting one another and celebrating their dogs.

That part might just be better than the chocolates. 🐾💙Wherryman Spaniels

Motorcycles make terrible school buses. Even a smidgen of common sense makes that clear. Nothing wrong with either school buses or motorcycles. They are simply built for different purposes.

The same is true of dogs. Breed reputations and impressive pedigrees describe populations of dogs, not individuals. Some dogs from that famous working line or from that titled litter or the result of a custom blend of breeds will do the thing you’d like the dog to do. Reality check: some dogs – regardless of breed, group, background, parentage – won’t be able to do the job.

The question is never "Is this a good dog?"

The important question: "Is this a good dog for this sport, this goal, this life?"

The answer is not found in generalizations or statistics, but in observable behavior. What does suitability actually look like?

In this webinar, Suzanne Clothier applies CARAT™ (Clothier Animal Response Assessment Tool) to the practical challenge of selecting a puppy or dog for your goals, whether that's competitive sports, working roles, or a full family life.

This webinar will be recorded and you will have access to the recording for a year.

🎉🐾 Dog Peeps is officially ONE! 🐾🎉

Today we’re celebrating our very first birthday, and what an incredible twelve months it has been.

One year of sharing learning moments.
One year of growing knowledge and developing skills.
One year of creating a safe, supportive space where both dogs and people can learn, build confidence and simply enjoy the journey together.

When we started Dog Peeps, we had a vision of building more than a training business. We wanted to create a community where curiosity is encouraged, questions are welcomed, successes are celebrated, and everyone feels supported, no matter where they are on their scent work journey.

Over the past year we’ve been fortunate enough to share:
🐶 Our very first group classes
🐶 Countless private training sessions
🐶 Weekend workshops across three states
🐶 New friendships and unforgettable learning moments
🎃 And who could ever forget our Halloween Party!

None of this would have been possible without the amazing people who placed their trust in us. Thank you for allowing us to support, encourage and guide you as you’ve expanded your knowledge of scent work and animal training. Watching your partnerships with your dogs grow has been the greatest privilege.

💚 Now we’d love to hear from you!

What’s been your favourite Dog Peeps memory or experience over the past twelve months? Was it a breakthrough moment with your dog, a workshop, a class, a trial, making new friends, or simply sharing a laugh along the way?

Please share your favourite Dog Peeps moment in the comments. We’d love to celebrate this milestone by reliving those memories together.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for making Dog Peeps the wonderful community it has become. Here’s to another year of learning, growing and celebrating every little success, together.

Happy First Birthday, Dog Peeps! 🥳💚🐾
