💙 Happy Father’s Day from Goodstart Halls Head!💙

What a beautiful afternoon we had celebrating all the amazing dads, grandads, uncles, father figures and special people in our children’s lives! 🥰

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Father’s Day Afternoon Tea today. It was so lovely seeing our families spending quality time together, sharing smiles, laughter, delicious treats and creating those special memories with their little ones. 🫶

Our children were so excited to welcome their special people into the Centre and share a little piece of their world with them. These moments of connection, belonging and togetherness are what make our Goodstart community so special. ❤️

We hope you all have a very happy and special Father’s Day! 🌟

Love from the Goodstart Halls Head team💙

Ever had one of those "What should I be doing with my child?" moments? You might already have the answer at home.

Earlier this year, every Goodstart family received a What & When for Families guide for each child. If it's been tucked away in a drawer since then, now might be the perfect time to pull it back out.

The guide is packed with simple, play-based activities that support your child's learning and development at home. Best of all, it's written in your child's voice, with ideas tailored to their age and developmental stage.

From singing songs with babies and playing peek-a-boo, to "I Spy" games, storytelling and treasure hunts with older children, the activities are designed to fit naturally into everyday moments you already share together.

We know learning doesn't only happen in the classroom. Those small moments at home can help build big communication, language and literacy skills.

Take another look through your What & When for Families guide to explore age-appropriate activities and learning ideas you can try together.

💛 Sometimes the best learning resource is the one you already have at home.

🌈💜 YOUR VOICES HELP SHAPE OUR CENTRE! 💜🌈

We are so grateful to our wonderful Goodstart Halls Head families for continuing to share your feedback, ideas and experiences with us. 🥰

Your voices help us celebrate what we are doing well and identify ways we can continue to grow, improve and provide the very best experiences for our children and families. 💕

🦺 In August, we listened to your feedback around children’s health, safety and wellbeing.
As a result, we have introduced our Goodstart Safety Helper Program, included children in outdoor safety checks, continued our monthly emergency and evacuation drills and created more opportunities for children to develop confidence, responsibility and leadership.

🌿 This month, we are turning our focus to Quality Area 3 – Physical Environment!

We want to hear from you about our indoor and outdoor spaces and how they support your child’s:

🌱 Learning and development
💚 Wellbeing
⭐ Independence
🌈 Engagement
🤝 Sense of belonging

💬 We would love to hear your thoughts!
What do you love about our environments?
Is there anything you would like to see more of?
Do you have ideas for how we could make our spaces even more engaging?

Your feedback directly contributes to our Quality Improvement Plan and helps us make meaningful changes across our centre. 🌟

Thank you for partnering with us and for helping make Goodstart Halls Head a safe, welcoming, engaging and inspiring place for every child. 💜
Together, our voices make a difference! 🌈✨

📚✨ **BOOK WEEK 2026!** ✨📚

What an amazing start to Book Week we have had! Our incredible educators have been bringing some of our favourite storybook characters to life with their creative costumes. 📖💫

Here’s a look at some of our **Monday & Tuesday costumes**! 🧙‍♀️🧙‍♂️🐻📚 The children have loved seeing their educators dressed up and getting into the magic of Book Week.

💡 **REMINDER:** We are dressing up **ALL WEEK**! 🎉📚 So there are still plenty more costumes and storybook characters to come!

A huge thank you to our amazing team for embracing the fun and helping create such a magical week for our children. ❤️

We can’t wait to see what the rest of the week brings! ✨📖

🌈 **Exploring Colours, Textures & Culture Through Sensory Play** 🌈

Today’s sensory experience was an extension of the children’s previous explorations of colours, textures and cultural symbols. We prepared a large sensory tray filled with rice dyed in the colours of the **Aboriginal Flag** — black, red and yellow — and the **Torres Strait Islander Flag** — green, blue, white and black.

The children were invited to explore the rice using wooden scoops, cups and funnels. They immediately showed curiosity, using their hands and tools to scoop, pour, fill and move the rice around the tray. The children enjoyed filling cups and sharing the experience with their educators, remaining engaged and focused for an extended period of time.

Through this experience, the children developed their **fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, concentration and sensory awareness**, while also building curiosity and awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures in a meaningful, hands-on and age-appropriate way.

It was wonderful to see the children’s sustained engagement, curiosity and enjoyment as they explored, experimented and discovered through sensory play. ❤️💛🖤💚💙🤍

🌸 **Exploring Djilba Through Sensory Play** 🌸

The Toddlers engaged in a beautiful sensory tray experience inspired by the Noongar season of **Djilba**. 🌿

The children explored pink rice, pink pom-pom balls, seed pods and photographs of native Djilba plants. We talked about how the colour pink represents the beautiful plants and wildflowers that can be seen throughout the Djilba season. The children looked closely at the different plants, learned their names and returned the photographs to the tray.

As they explored, the children described how the different materials felt and used the seed pods to scoop up the rice and pour it back into the tray. We also hid photographs beneath the rice, encouraging the children to dig, discover and investigate what was underneath. 🌱✨

Through this experience, the children are continuing to build their awareness of the **Noongar seasons**, develop their connection with nature and explore their environment through sensory, hands-on play. 💕🌿
