🐝 Today was Bee Day in the Nursery! 🐝
Following the children’s growing interest in sensory play and small animals, our amazing Nursery Two senior educator created a spontaneous bee-themed sensory tray for the children to explore. 💛
The children enjoyed discovering yellow jelly filled with little bees, honey dippers, cups, and bee hives. They touched, scooped, squeezed, mixed, and explored the slippery textures using both their hands and tools. Some children carefully moved the bees through the jelly, while others loved watching the jelly slide from the cups back into the tray.
This playful experience supported:
✨ Fine motor development
✨ Sensory exploration
✨ Curiosity and confidence
✨ Social interactions and shared discoveries
It was wonderful to see the children exploring side by side, engaging in meaningful sensory play and following their own interests.
We look forward to continuing spontaneous sensory experiences using different textures, colours, and nature themes inspired by the children’s interests. 🌼🐝

🌱🌿 Growing Green at Goodstart Halls Head 🌿🌱
At Goodstart Halls Head, we are continuing to extend our commitment to sustainability and caring for our environment through meaningful, hands-on learning experiences for the children. 💚
We are so excited to introduce our new Gardening Committee! 🌼🪴 This initiative gives children the opportunity to actively participate in caring for our environment while developing important life skills through play and inquiry-based learning.
Through the Gardening Committee, children will:
🌱 Learn about plant life cycles and how things grow
🥕 Help plant, care for and harvest fruits, vegetables and herbs
♻️ Explore sustainable practices such as composting and water conservation
🐛 Develop an understanding of caring for living things and our planet
🌏 Build confidence, responsibility and teamwork skills
This project has been inspired by the children’s growing interest in nature, gardening and the environment, and supports our ongoing focus on sustainability within our daily practices and learning environments.
We can’t wait to watch our gardens — and our little gardeners — grow together! 🌻💚

As we begin exploring National Reconciliation Week across our centre, the children have been engaging in meaningful experiences through our literacy program and Reconciliation Action Plan to learn about culture, connection, respect and shared histories.
Throughout the week the children participated in a variety of learning experiences including creating Emu in the Sky paintings, reading and discussing the story Sorry Day during mat sessions, contributing to a collaborative reconciliation art piece, and creating windmills while learning about the Noongar season of Djeran.
These experiences help foster children’s understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives, while encouraging curiosity, respect and a sense of belonging within our community. We are proud to support the children as they continue learning the importance of listening, learning and walking together towards reconciliation. ❤️🖤💛
