EXPERIENCING PATHWAYS TO BRIGHT FUTURES! ✨
Our Year 10 students have been busy gaining hands-on experience during their Work Experience weeks, and what an incredible journey it has been! These programs are more than just a peek into the working world—they’re a chance for students to discover their passions, explore career pathways, and prove their work ethic in real-world environments.
Thanks to the generous support of local businesses, these experiences often lead to valuable connections, future opportunities, and even employment or apprenticeships—which has been the case for some of our students this year! 🙌
We’re so grateful to the local businesses who continue to welcome our students with open arms, creating an environment where they can shine. Your willingness to mentor and support makes a lasting impact.
📣 Shoutout Time! Have a business or workplace that gave you a start during Work Experience? Let us know in the comments and give them the recognition they deserve!

🌟 Celebrating Excellence: Cienna’s Incredible STEM Journey! 🌟
We are thrilled to announce that Year 9 student, Cienna S, has been selected for the highly competitive Curious Minds Program! This prestigious eight-month STEM extension and mentoring program is designed for high-achieving young women passionate about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. The exclusive invitation came following her remarkable results in NAPLAN and the Australian Maths Competition.
Cienna will kick off her journey by attending the West Summer Camp in Adelaide (8–13 December) at the University of Adelaide, followed by a virtual Winter Camp in July 2025. This opportunity will see her mentored by leading female STEM professionals, participate in hands-on projects, and connect with like-minded students from across Australia.
Cienna’s invitation to this program is a testament to her dedication and the strength of the Maths, STEM, and Science programs at JTC, which continue to nurture the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers. A special mention goes to our Head of Mathematics, Ms. Crook, who supported and encouraged Cienna through the application process and couldn’t be prouder of her achievement.
The Curious Minds Program empowers students to reach new heights in STEM fields, and we are so proud to see Cienna represent JTC on this national stage.
Congratulations, Cienna—you’ve made your school community incredibly proud! 🎉

DUKE OF EDINBURGH AWARD - ADVENTURE, GROWTH AND OPPORTUNITY
Our Year 10 students recently embarked on an unforgettable Duke of Edinburgh Award Camp in beautiful Busselton! This camp marked the culmination of their Adventurous Journey component—one of the key steps in achieving this prestigious, internationally recognised award.
Throughout the week, our students explored new experiences, learned practical skills, and deepened their connection with the environment and local culture:
🌱 Took part in conservation activities and environmental education
🔥 Learned about bushfire safety and its effects on nature with Nearer to Nature WA
🚒 Visited the Busselton Fire Department to understand the role of firefighters
🪨 Enjoyed an Aboriginal Cultural Experience with Koomal Dreaming at Ngilgi Cave
🦘 Connected with native wildlife at a local sanctuary
🎢 Built confidence and teamwork on a high ropes course
By completing this component, our students are now equipped to continue their Duke of Edinburgh journey independently in Year 11, with support from Mrs. McClean.
The Duke of Edinburgh Award isn’t just an incredible achievement—it’s a passport to personal growth, increased employability, and even WACE graduation points. This program empowers young people to discover their purpose, passion, and place in the world through learning new skills, improving fitness, volunteering, and team adventures.
We’re so proud of our students for their commitment to this program and can’t wait to see where their next steps will take them!

🌺 A DAY TO REMEMBER 🌺
Today, seven of our students represented JTC by gathering at the Mandurah War Memorial to lay a wreath in remembrance of those who served our country. This meaningful moment allowed them to pay their respects and proudly represent their Cadet groups.
After the ceremony, our students had an opportunity to speak with dignitaries and service representatives. A true highlight was speaking with war veterans, who generously shared their stories and experiences.
These interactions foster a deep sense of gratitude and connection to our history, reminding us all of the importance of remembrance.
Well done, Student Leaders.
