🏘🏗 STEM IN YEAR 10 🏗🏘

Construction is underway!

The Year 10's have been busy during STEM lessons building their very own city!

They have been learning all about infrastructure, how to build houses and what a city needs. They have then been applying this knowledge to build models, which will make up the HHC ESC mini-city.

We can't wait to see the finished model.

Today was a hot one 🥵

A number of different options were made available to the students today to help keep cool. These included classrooms being open during recess and lunch with quiet activities on offer and thanks to our shade sales and tables in the "v area" there was plenty of space for the students to escape the sun and have a chat.

But most importantly icy poles were handed out during lunch time!

I think the smiles say it all 😃

Today the 8.1 class learnt about Solar Energy and how we use it.

They learnt that you need:

☀️ Solar Panels
☀️ Cables
☀️ Inverter/Battery

Students used Lego, foil and pipe cleaners to build a house with solar panels, a cable and an inverter. One student even added a wind turbine!

The yard received some much-needed TLC this week 🍁

During T&E, students learnt about composting and recycling before moving outside to the gardens.

Where they added green waste to the compost bin along with some water to help break it down. Finally, they prepared the garden beds for planting by mixing coffee grounds and dried leaves into the soil 🌸🌼
