Our Coastal Waste Environmental Hub is officially in action! ๐ฉต๐ฅณ๐
This week we welcomed Singaporean international high school students from the WV Education program ๐ธ๐ฌ
We held two sessions across two days at Pyramids Beach ๐๏ธ It was a great opportunity to set up our first education sessions with the Hub as this is the spot we first started our cleanups!โค๏ธ
We started the session with taking the students to see some dolphins that had come to say hello ๐๐ฌWe moved onto a beach clean up and followed with a review of what was collected- day one 11.5kg of rubbish and day two 13.6kg of rubbish!!๐คฏ just over 25kgs!! What an effort๐
We went layed out the rubbish and went through the findings and followed with educational activities including; the 50/50 game using the eco-wheel, talked about plastics and then went through the 7 Rโs.โป๏ธ
We loved the opportunity to teach students about the impact of litter on our waterways and look forward to using the Hub in more educational setting over the coming months. ๐๐

This is a milestone achievement and we are proud to continue and grow the legacy of Amber Dawn. We talked about our achievements as a not for profit so far, our history, ran educational activities and what we hope to achieve for the future with our new Hub.
We extend of sincere thank you to Lisa Munday MLA and Rhys Williams MLA to delivering on this commitment from the Cook Government to help develop and strengthen waste education in our schools and wider community. ๐
We thank representatives from the City of Mandurah, including Deputy Mayor Jess Smith and Amy, Waste Education Officer for their time and input today.
A reminder that our next clean up is Sunday 21st June at Nairns Bird Hide on the Coodanup Foreshore from 9-11am ๐ฟ๐๏ธ

Thereโs never a dull moment & never a dull find at our Clean-Ups! Complete metal fly screens, sausage dog cups or clothes line pegs arenโt items youโd expect to come across on the beach but alas they find their way there anywayโฆ ๐
Good thing Mandurah is rallying to clear this litter up one beach at a time! ๐ฎ๐ชโ๏ธ๐๏ธ
