Our Coastal Waste Environmental Hub is officially in action! ๐Ÿฉต๐Ÿฅณ๐ŸŒ

This week we welcomed Singaporean international high school students from the WV Education program ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฌ

We held two sessions across two days at Pyramids Beach ๐Ÿ–๏ธ It was a great opportunity to set up our first education sessions with the Hub as this is the spot we first started our cleanups!โค๏ธ

We started the session with taking the students to see some dolphins that had come to say hello ๐Ÿ‘‹๐ŸฌWe moved onto a beach clean up and followed with a review of what was collected- day one 11.5kg of rubbish and day two 13.6kg of rubbish!!๐Ÿคฏ just over 25kgs!! What an effort๐Ÿ‘

We went layed out the rubbish and went through the findings and followed with educational activities including; the 50/50 game using the eco-wheel, talked about plastics and then went through the 7 Rโ€™s.โ™ป๏ธ

We loved the opportunity to teach students about the impact of litter on our waterways and look forward to using the Hub in more educational setting over the coming months. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸŒŠ

Thereโ€™s never a dull moment & never a dull find at our Clean-Ups! Complete metal fly screens, sausage dog cups or clothes line pegs arenโ€™t items youโ€™d expect to come across on the beach but alas they find their way there anywayโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ˜•
Good thing Mandurah is rallying to clear this litter up one beach at a time! ๐Ÿšฎ๐Ÿ’ชโ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ๏ธ
