I was Dux of my school, receiving an ATAR of 99.15, and went on to complete a BSc with Honours (Maths and Physics majors), placing equal second in my Honours class at the University of Melbourne. My tutoring experience ranges from private individualised learning, to class-based university teaching. I have experience tutoring a variety of students with diverse needs and aptitudes - from rudimentary to advanced level, including Maths Methods and Specialist. I believe in every student's innate ability to tap unfulfilled potential and I assist them to overcome any insecurities hampering their progress. My patient manner is conducive to the creation of a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, in which my students feel comfortable to ask any question. My hourly rates are as follows -

When is the best time to plant a tree?

School is well and truly back! Students may be wishing now that they had been at the front of the pack on the first day of school (or last year) - but it's never to late to get some help.

Some teachers like to set a calibration test early in the year. This will often reveal knowledge gaps, providing a great opportunity for students to work with their tutors to ensure that they are at the front of the pack and well placed to get the most out of school lessons. If your teacher doesn't give you a test like this, a good practice is to find out the order in which topics will be covered throughout the term, then look at the first exercises of the relevant chapters. These first exercises are usually a revision of things that should already be known, so if a student finds them difficult, it would be worth covering these exercises in a private lesson before the chapter is taught in class.
