You’ve probably been told that students need to memorise hundreds of sight words by heart.

But here’s the truth:
🧠 Most “sight words” are actually decodable when taught using a systematic, phonics-based approach.
📖 The 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 tells us that kids don’t need to memorise words — they need to learn how to 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗱𝗲 them.

Yes, some words have irregular parts…
But that doesn’t mean we throw them on flashcards and hope for the best. 🙅‍♀️

We don’t want kids to guess — we want them to read with confidence and understanding.
