Yup, that time of the year when the garden starts demanding attention again….😫😳😀.

Happily, all your mower and other garden maintenance tools are to be found at your local Tool Library 😀. We’re open Thursdays from 9-11 am and Saturdays from 10 am to 12 pm.

Look for the neatly trimmed premises at 96 Bastion Point Road.

Census night!

But disappointingly NO questions on tools! None at all! Despite DIY, garden maintenance and repairs consuming the majority of Australian weekends….

So we decided to help the ABS out by adding a couple of tool related questions 😀.

1. How do you obtain your tools? Pick one.

🔲 I spend a fortune at Total Tools, Bunnings and Tools’R’Us.

🔲 Borrow or scrounge ‘em.

🔲 I’m a Tool Library member and have unlimited access to a range of great tools for a mere $60 per annum.

2. When did you last donate your recyclable cans and bottles to support your local Tool Library? Pick one.

🔲 Donated all the cans and bottles from the M-I-L’s knees up last weekend.

🔲 Every week, its a small thing I can do to support a great local cause.

A local fairy tale..

In the deepest darkest crevices of Shady Gully lives a community of elves led by fairy Queen Patricia (aka Shady Pat). For years they’ve relied on magic potions and spells to get by. Indeed, Shady Pat has in her possession the most powerful of wands…

But - much to the dismay of his elders - youngest elf Kevin showed no interest in magic…no interest at all! He was more interested in things mechanical…safety goggles made of dragonfly wings, a drill powered by a woodpecker, clamps fashioned from discarded clothes pegs…

His family despaired…

“Where did we go wrong?” cried his mother “Perhaps we should have named him Puck or Blossom Bottom or some other more elvish name.“

The shame…

Until…

Last week a massive deer* rampaged through Shady Gully trampling elf homes and businesses… the destruction was great!

“Lo and behold” Shady Pat postured, waving her wand majestically “Order will be restored”.

Yeah, nah!

So young Kevin got to work with his tools and made good all the damage.

When you look up from your morning cuppa while house minding and see eight massive trespassing cows chomping their way through all the newly planted shrubs enroute to the main road….

Bugga!

Shrub, cow and car survival forcing your correspondent to abandon brekkie and run out the door wielding cobweb broom, clad in fluffy pink dressing gown, gumboots and beanie.

Sexy! 😳

Temporary barricade - reminiscent of Les Miserables- erected using star pickets, blocks of wood, poles, ramps and other bits and bobs….

The moral of the story? Good fences maketh good neighbours….

Sizes available range from Small to XXLarge and numbers are strictly limited, so those who wish to show their support for the TL (and look darn good whilst they are doing it) will need to get in quick!

The polos are $40 each and can be picked up from the TL at 96 Bastion Point Road on Thursday from 9-11 am or Saturday between 10am and 12 pm. Cash or bank transfer only…..no credit cards or tap and go.

Coincidentally, the Mallacoota and District Tool Library is also open at the same times in the same venue. So you can pick up a chainsaw, pay your dues and emerge looking like a fashion icon!
