THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE
INFORMATION EVENING: MONDAY 6TH JULY, 7 PM

There will be an information night held at the Creswick Courthouse Theatre,
2 Raglan St, Creswick

About This Production
The Pirates of Penzance is a comic operetta about a young man named Frederic who was mistakenly apprenticed to a band of soft-hearted pirates. Due to a massive sense of duty, he struggles to break free from his criminal ties while trying to secure the love of a beautiful woman named Mabel. Creswick Theatre Company are staging a Concert style version of the musical. This will include all the dialogue and some blocking, as well as all the usual fun and shenanigans of a G&S production.

PERFORMANCE DATES: Nov 20, 21 & 22; 27, 28 & 29

Details about the production will be shared at this session, plus you'll be able to have a look at the rehearsal/performance space if you haven't been to the theatre before. All your questions about the production will be able to be answered on this evening as well.

Farewell Pittsy. It was standing room only at the Maldon Community Centre today as people came from near and far to pay tribute and bid farewell to local playwright, director, writer and actor, Graham Pitts. Pittsy has been a much loved and highly valued member of the Hobo Playhouse acting sessions and workshops at Maldon Neighbourhood Centre from the outset. He wrote many terrific scenes and monologues for members of the group and never hesitated to share his wealth of acting and theatre knowledge with all of us. Pittsy's wonderful comic timing came to the fore in his performances at the Hobo's annual Showcases. We will never forget The Cheese Robber, the judge in 'Wee Willie Winkie', the Customs Officer in 'Airport' and of course his countless hilarious improvs in classes. Vale Pittsy!

Our friends at Cathouse Players in Kyneton are looking for a middle aged actor to play Harry in a classic English Farce called ‘Not Now Darling’ by John Chapman and Ray Cooney. Harry is the husband of Janie,a stripper, and boyfriend of his secretary Sue. It is a character that is in and out with a medium amount of lines. 20,21, 26,27,28 June. The Twelve Minute Play Festival at the Creswick Theatre Company is set for April 26, May 2, and May 3, 2026. This year's theme is "A Dilemma," and every featured play must also include a card of some description.
Among the twelve original short plays being presented is "What's in a Name?" written by Tallaine Opie and directed by Julian Opie. The performance features:
Evelyn Zeven, Cheyenne O'Connor, and Noel Delmo

Hobo Playhouse has two spots left in its Acting for Beginners course at Maldon Neighbourhood Centre. The eight-week course will be held on Tuesdays from 10am-1pm from April 14. No experience needed. The course is kindly funded by Learn Local which brings the cost down to $60 concession or $80 full fee.

Hobo Playhouse has designed an important program called Creative Ageing: Acting for Wellbeing to support older adults with their emotional wellbeing, confidence, and social connections.
Through gentle drama therapy‑based methods, including storytelling, imagination, improvisation and playful activities, participants will explore a range of themes in a small group setting. Themes include identity, connection, ageing, creativity, and resilience. Each session is designed to be safe, supportive and fun.
No acting experience is needed — just bring your curiosity and a willingness to play and have fun.
This warm, welcoming course runs over eight weeks at Muckleford Community Centre, near Castlemaine, from February 23 to April 13, 2026. Each session runs for 90 minutes. The total cost for all eight sessions is $100 full/$80 concession.
