Hunter Resource Recovery

Hunter Resource Recovery Recycling (yellow bin) for Cessnock, Lake Macquarie, Maitland and Singleton. Helping residents recycle right — so your waste isn't wasted.

With commentary from Barry the bin chicken (the OG binfluencer) and help from Hunter the Recycling Retriever. Hunter Resource Recovery manages recycling and waste education across Cessnock, Lake Macquarie, Maitland and Singleton councils. We're here to cut through the confusion — because most recycling mistakes aren't laziness, they're misinformation. And misinformation is Barry the bin chicken's least favourite thing. Follow for straight-talking recycling guides, the occasional surprise fact that'll change how you look at your yellow bin, and appearances from Barry, who has watched things happen in silence for long enough. Not sure what goes where? Check the Recycle Right A-Z Guide at hrr.com.au — 5,000+ items, three seconds, no guessing. Make sure your waste isn't wasted.

Summer is threatening us with a good time. 🌞

Which means BBQ season is officially on.

Which means Barry is about to hear the phrase "quick recycling question" roughly 4,000 times over the coming months.

From foil trays to gas bottles and all the other BBQ leftovers, Barry's got your recycling questions covered.

Barry will be attending every backyard BBQ in the Hunter this summer.

Well, you won't see him at first.

He's a bit of a recycling ninja.

Say "Surely this can go in the yellow bin?" and he'll appear beside the esky. 😎

☕ Bazza has cornered a Charlestown local at the skate park, coffee in hand, and put him on the spot about that takeaway cup he's holding.

Easy question, or is there a catch? Watch and see if you'd have got it right.

WE'RE GOING TO THE GRAND FINAL!!! 🔴🔵

25 years we've waited, and last night the Knights got it done! 22-14 over the Panthers, and the whole Hunter is still buzzing. Bazza and Hunter haven't stopped celebrating since the siren. 🏉

Bring on the Roosters this Sunday. Up the Knights! 🙌

Don't forget: once the party's over, your empty cans and bottles go straight in the recycling bin. ♻️

Bin night looks different for everyone in the Hunter — so whenever yours rolls around this week, save this and tick it off before the yellow lid goes out.

Street Sort is back. 🎤

This week Bazza hit up the Charlestown skate park and put the locals on the spot — starting with the humble plastic toy.

Easy question, or is there a catch? Watch and see if you'd have got it right.
