Last week, our Individual Placement and Support (IPS) Consultant, Kylie and Practice Advisor, Lauren attended BEING - Mental Health Consumers Ltd Regional Roadshow in the Hunter ๐ค
BEING is the NSW peak body for people living with mental illness and psychosocial disabilities. The morning brought together sector organisations, people with lived experience and university students to share stories, discuss challenges and strengthen the sector.
Kylie and Lauren had the chance to connect with like-minded organisations and speak with BEING CEO Giancarlo, sharing Mai-Wel's experience delivering the Inclusive Employment Australia program and our NDIS services.
Events like this are an important part of how we stay connected and contribute to shaping a stronger sector for the future!

A group of our Inclusive Employment Australia and Parent Pathways participants visited Dress for Success NSW & ACT - Newcastle for a styling and confidence workshop focused on getting job-ready ๐
Many of our participants are preparing to enter the workforce or attend interviews and the workshop provided personalised styling sessions, interview tips and practical guidance to help everyone feel more confident about their next steps.
A highlight of the day was that each participant received a professional outfit to take home, giving them interview-ready clothing for future opportunities.
There were plenty of smiles, laughs and new connections made throughout the day, and participants left with increased confidence, practical skills and a greater belief in their ability to achieve their employment goals ๐
Thank you to Dress for Success Newcastle for such a valuable and empowering day.

๐ Meet Louise, Mai-Wel's Business Development and Partnerships Specialist.
Lou joined Mai-Wel in 2022 with a clear focus: building meaningful partnerships that create real opportunity for the people we support. Over the past few years, she has worked behind the scenes to connect Mai-Wel with organisations that share our values and our belief in what's possible.
A recent highlight was securing the Charity Partnership with the Maitland Rugby Club for Mai-Wel in 2026, bringing two community-minded organisations together in a way that goes well beyond a formal agreement.
"When local clubs intentionally create inclusive spaces, it builds confidence, belonging and real opportunity," Louise said.
โ๐๐ถ๐ญ๐ญ ๐ฐ๐ง ๐๐ฐ๐ด๐ด๐ช๐ฃ๐ญ๐ฆโ in Lou's work looks like finding the right doors and helping to open them, so that participants have more places to belong, more chances to grow and more people in their corner.
To keep her social battery high, you'll find Lou recharging with a caramel latte in handโ
