🌟 Fame Friday – Character Strength of the Fortnight: Zest 🌟

Each fortnight on Fame Friday, we celebrate students who have been recognised by their teachers for consistently showing our character strength of the fortnight. These students are our famous faces - chosen for the positive ways they contribute to our school community at Central Yorke School.

This fortnight, our focus has been on zest ⚡💛

Zest is about participating in a wide range of activities with enthusiasm and energy. It means getting involved, giving things a go, approaching each day with a positive attitude, and bringing excitement and motivation to what you do.

The students featured in today’s post have demonstrated fantastic zest through their willingness to get involved, try new things and bring positive energy to their learning and our school community.

Central York School warmly invites all our fathers, grandfathers, carers and special people in our students’ lives to join us for a delicious bacon and egg breakfast as we celebrate and say thank you for all that you do! 💙

🏫 Classrooms open from 9:00am to 9:30am for students to share their learning with you!

Reminder for next week - Week 8 Wheels Day 🚲 🛴

🛴Wheels Day is coming to Central Yorke School! 🚲

On Friday 11th of September, our Reception to Year 6 students are invited to bring along their bikes, scooters or rollerblades for an exciting day of riding, challenges and fun!

🔴 Reception–Year 2 will remain at school and take part in a supervised obstacle course during Lessons 6 and 7.

🔵 Years 3–6 will walk to the Maitland Pump Track for structured riding sessions and skill-based activities.

All students must bring a helmet and the appropriate protective equipment to participate. Students will also enjoy a shared morning or afternoon tea with their group.

More detailed information will be sent home in the coming weeks, but for now, save the date and get those wheels ready!

🥾🌿 Stage 1 Outdoor Education Bushwalking Camp 🌿🥾

Our Stage 1 Outdoor Education students, Miss Prue and Miss Holly recently took on an incredible challenge during their bushwalking camp at Innes National Park, covering an impressive 45km over two days! 👏

Throughout the camp, students demonstrated outstanding perseverance, resilience and determination. The journey certainly wasn’t easy, with many students facing physical challenges along the way, including blisters, chafing and migraines, particularly during the second day of walking.

Despite this, they continued to push themselves, encourage one another and show just how much can be achieved with a positive and determined mindset.
Students also put their camp craft skills into action, cooking their own meals using Trangias and setting up and packing down their tents. They worked together to follow the principles of ‘Leave No Trace’, demonstrating respect and responsibility for the beautiful environment around them. 🌱🏕️

It was fantastic to see our students step outside their comfort zones, overcome challenges and discover what they are truly capable of.

A huge well done to all of our Stage 1 Outdoor Education students on an amazing achievement! 💪🥾
