World Youth Day Seoul 2027
An invitation for our Year 10 students

What if you could journey with young Catholics from around the world, encounter Christ in a new and powerful way, and be part of one of the largest celebrations of faith on earth?

In 2027, the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle will lead a pilgrimage to Seoul, South Korea, for World Youth Day 2027, and our current Year 10 students are invited to consider being part of this extraordinary experience.

As part of the Diocese's ongoing commitment to building ALIVE Catholic Youth, Bishop Michael Kennedy is delighted to announce this diocesan pilgrimage to Seoul, bringing together young people from across the Diocese to participate in this global celebration of faith, community and hope.

World Youth Day Seoul 2027

World Youth Day is an opportunity for young people from across the world to gather, celebrate their faith, encounter Christ and experience the Catholic Church as a truly global community.

The 2027 pilgrimage invites young people to embrace a spirit of hope and courage, drawing on the words of Jesus:

“In the world you will have trouble. But take courage! I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33

These words remind us that, despite the challenges and uncertainty faced by young people today, Christ has already conquered fear, sin and death.

WYD Seoul 2027 will be an opportunity to discover the joy of becoming “salt of the earth and light of the world”, to encounter young people from different cultures and backgrounds, and to return home as pilgrims of hope and courageous missionaries, ready to put the Gospel into action.

The Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle is hosting a World Youth Day 2027 Launch Event for young people and families interested in discovering more about the pilgrimage.

This launch will provide an opportunity to hear more about the
pilgrimage, what the experience will involve and how young people can begin their journey towards Seoul.

For our Year 10 students, World Youth Day Seoul 2027 could be much more than a trip overseas. It is an opportunity to step beyond the familiar, deepen their relationship with Christ, encounter the diversity of the Catholic Church and discover what it means to live their faith with courage. Partial Subsidies are available to ASC students.

We encourage interested students and their families to attend the diocesan launch event and explore this incredible opportunity.

Outstanding Rugby Success for Our Students

We are incredibly proud to celebrate the achievements of four of our students who were selected in the Country Rugby Squad: Braeden, Austin, Jack, and Sam.

Following a highly competitive selection process, Braeden, Jack, and Sam were successful in earning places in the final 23-player Country team, an outstanding accomplishment that reflects their dedication, skill, and hard work.

Adding to this success, Braeden, Jack, and Sam have also been selected in the prestigious NSW Next Gen Waratahs Squad. This recognition highlights their exceptional talent and provides them with an exciting opportunity to further develop their rugby careers at an elite level.

Congratulations to Braeden, Austin, Jack, and Sam on their remarkable achievements. We look forward to following their rugby journey and wish them every success in their upcoming competitions and representative commitments.

Faith in Action: Year 7 Parish Mass

Today, two of our Year 7 classes had the wonderful opportunity to celebrate Mass together with Fr Anthony in St Mary’s Chapel.

This celebration was particularly meaningful for our students as they continue their Religious Education unit, Faith in Action. Throughout the term, students have been exploring the importance of ritual and symbols within the Catholic faith, and today they were able to experience these elements through the celebration of the Eucharist.

The Gospel for today’s Mass was Matthew 22:1-14, the Parable of the Wedding Feast, which invites us to reflect on God’s invitation to each of us and how we respond to that invitation.

It was also a wonderful opportunity for our students to gather as a community in the beautiful and historic setting of St Mary’s Chapel, a place that holds such an important connection to the history and spiritual tradition of our College.

A special thank you to Fr Anthony for celebrating Mass with us and for helping our students make connections between what they are learning in the classroom and the lived experience of our Catholic faith.

Inspirati, by Christ.

On Tuesday, our Year 11 and Year 12 students gathered outside Saint Mary’s Chapel on the Senior Campus for our annual Crowning of Saint Dominic service.

This special celebration invites us to reflect on the rich Dominican heritage of our College and the faith, learning and service that have shaped our community across generations.

As we look towards 2027, we give thanks for the story that has brought us to this moment and look forward with great excitement as we celebrate 170 years of education on the Senior Campus.

May the example of Saint Dominic continue to inspire us to seek truth, connect with one another, learn with purpose and serve others, Christus Inspirati, Inspired by Christ.

Congratulations to Maya, Zahria and Adele, who have all been successful in gaining an SBAT with Hunter New England Health. They will work in a local hospital one day a week, and complete a Certificate 3 in Health Services Assistance as part of their HSC. Congratulations!!!
