It's wild to me that it's been 6 years. 🥹
For anyone who doesn't know the story...
Back in 2018 I signed up for my first dreadlock course. After a struggle to get models, even for free work, I dropped out and gave up on the dream.
But in 2020, with the world on lockdown, I decided to finish what I started. I rejoined the course and started again.
This time, I got a totally different outcome that somehow snowballed into this insane thing I now call a business. 😆
Almost four years ago, I was offered the opportunity to rent a space in the soon-to-be Ritual Adornment Maitland that Kel and AJ were just about to open. Initially, I was so worried I couldn't make it work because I was still such a baby in business, so I said no.
But after much thought, I said "f•ck it, let's do it" and sent off a message saying to sign me up for the chaos.
And now, here we are, looking at the six-year anniversary of my crazy idea to take the leap and start a business.
Over those six years, I've changed a lot.
I've learned what kind of hair I love creating. I've figured out what sort of space I want to build for my clients.
I've made mistakes, changed things, changed them again, and slowly built something that feels more and more like me.
So it feels incredibly fitting that, as I celebrate six years in business, I get to introduce the new business name that feels like it belongs to everything this little business has become:
🌙🦊 WOVEN WILDS HAIR 🦊🌙
It's dreadlocks, braids, creativity, weird ideas and beautiful hair, now wrapped up under a name that finally feels right.
From October 1st, you’ll see the new name and branding popping up across socials, bookings, emails, etc as everything makes the switch over. But overall, it's still the same me offering the same service you know and love.
I want to take this chance to thank you all for being part of it.
Whether you were here from the start or joined along the way, I'm so grateful to every single one of you for putting your faith in me to create magical hair for you.
Six years later, the business looks very different from the little idea I started with.
And I think that's kind of the point.
Welcome to Woven Wilds. 🖤

I recently got the honour to create this awesome set of dreadlocks for a client but they had a request that I absolutely had to help with.
This lovely client unfortunately lost someone very close to them around the time we began discussing their dreadlocks. My heart absolutely shattered for them. Losing a loved one is one of the hardest things we face in this world. So when they asked if I could add some of the loved ones hair (in a very similar colour to their own which is why you can't see a defined contrast) onto the end of a dreadlock at our installation, there was no second thoughts about saying yes.
Not only did we add this hair in so they permanently have this loved one with them, we also discussed how when it comes time for a trim I will opt to cut the dreadlock and move the tail/end "up" the dreadlock like an extension so they don't have to say goodbye until they decide the time is right for them.
It was an absolute honour to be trusted with something so meaningful for this client. I know how hard it can be to trust someone with moments like these and I'm glad my chair felt safe for that.
Definitely one of those appointments I’ll remember for a while. 🧡

If you would like some help honouring a loved one, I'm always happy to help find you something that brings them close to your heart (and hair).
Not everyone has their loved ones hair but we can also do hair wraps, favourite colours, or even themed beads to represent your loved one amongst your dreadlocks.
The best way to begin planning for something beautiful is to book in a consult so we can go over all the details for you and honour them in the best way possible.

Is it time to book that appointment? 🤔
The answer is yes!
My bookings are now open for September and October for anyone who is getting that calling to fix the floofy fly aways or those far too friendly dreadlocks that are sticking together like besties. Love the good friendship but it's not quite what we are going for. 😂
New clients are always welcome too! I've had a lot of lovely humans asking if I'm taking new clients and the answer is a big YES. I love having new faces in my chair so please know you are very welcome.

✨ BOOKING + PRICING CHANGES FROM SEPTEMBER 1ST ✨
I know everything costs more at the moment, and I really don’t love the idea of being another business adding to that. I’ve tried to hold my prices where they are for as long as I reasonably can, but the time has come.
At the same time, my maintenance menu has become a little too much. 😂 Too many options is leaving too many people wondering which bloody button they’re supposed to press.
So rather than just raising prices, I’m using this as a chance to properly reshuffle things and make booking simpler.
🤔 SO WHAT’S CHANGING?
• New Dreadlock Categories
🌙 Mini | 1–20
🌙 Partial | 21–40
🌙 Classic Full Head | 41–70
🌙 Volume Full Head | 71–100
These better reflect the fuller, higher-count sets I’m now seeing and allow appointments to be timed and priced more accurately.
• Simpler Maintenance
Maintenance will now sit under just two options:
⭐ Express Maintenance
For well-separated dreadlocks that only need a quick root tidy.
⭐ Full Maintenance
For new clients, overdue maintenance (5 months +), lots of loose hair or joined dreadlocks, or length work.
Because the categories and services are changing, maintenance pricing will shift slightly from September 1st. I’ve done my best to keep this as small as possible.
BUT... any maintenance appointment booked before September 1st will keep the current pricing, even if the appointment itself is later.
• Other Small Shuffles
Human hair, wool and synthetic dreadlock extensions will also receive updated pricing as material costs have risen. 😞
Services priced by dreadlock quantity, such as trims, may also look a little different as they move into the new categories.
📝 IN SHORT
The dreadlock work I’m doing has changed, so my booking system is changing with it. That means simpler booking, clearer categories and some mild price changes.
Already booked? Nothing changes for you.
Not booked yet? Book before September 1st to lock in current pricing.

So blonde + a little ✨something✨ is taking the spotlight around here at the moment.
A few days ago it was blonde with pops of pink.
This time it's blonde and green is the combo of choice. 💚
These braid-in extensions were created specifically for this lovely client by Evelyn. They are made from a mix of high quality synthetics and wool dreadlocks to give the variety in the texture of the set for the ultimate vibes.
At this rate I’m collecting blonde + colour combinations. 😂
What should be next? Comment what colour combos you would like to see next.
Is that a "my braid in dreadlocks" I hear? Well, you can book your consult for a custom set of braid in extensions or your braid in service (for those who already have a dreadlock set to braid in) over at

QOTD: What the heck do I mean by separate your dreadlocks? And why do we do it? (Ok, that's two questions but it's all in one, I swear!)
As your hair grows and the roots need some love, you'll get loose hairs that can start wandering into neighbouring dreadlocks. If these hairs are left alone for long enough, the roots can begin joining together.
Separating dreadlocks at home between your sessions will stop those stray hairs from creating a big tangled mess.
✨ How to Separate Dreadlocks at Home ✨
The best time to separate is after a wash. This ensures you keep separating on a regular routine of every 1-2 weeks.
After washing and fully drying your dreadlocks, gently feel around the roots and pull neighbouring dreadlocks apart from one another.
I like to do his by going along row by row to ensure I get all of my dreadlocks covered.
You’re not trying to rip through your hair so please be gentle with your hair and scalp. Just encourage each dreadlock to stay in its own lane.
🌛 A Few Tips & Tricks 🌜
• Separate regularly rather than waiting until everything has grown together for the best results
• Pay extra attention to areas that rub together, especially around the back of the head or the side you sleep on
• Be gentle. If something feels properly stuck, don’t yank it apart with the force of Hulk — Evelyn can help separate it at your next maintenance
• Loose hair is completely normal and doesn’t mean your dreadlocks are falling apart
Regular separating can make your maintenance appointments easier and faster. This means more time up your sleeve and money in your wallet. Win, win, right?
But what if your roots have already gone a bit rogue? Did you just reach up whilst reading this post and try to separate your dreadlocks and go "Oh no, it's been a bit and I think it's time I see Evelyn soon for a tidy up"?
Well that's what maintenance is for. So let's get you booked in to get those roots tidied up for Spring. 🌸🦋
Grab your Spring tidy-up session over at https://www.evelynjadecreations.com/s/appointments so you can step into the warmer months with confidence.

There was loose hair everywhere, weaving between dreadlocks and fluffing around the roots. But that hair is not lost! It just needs a little guidance by your friendly Loctician to get back where it bloody belongs. 😂
One thorough maintenance later and everything is crocheted neatly back into place. The runaway hairs were popped back in but we did leave the clients gorgeous bangs/fringe as they frame their face beautifully.
If you are needing your loose hair tidy-up session because you can feel those stray bits getting out of control, it's time to book yourself that maintenance you deserve to treat yourself with.
You can grab a spot over at https://www.evelynjadecreations.com/s/appointments in the time it takes to boil the kettle for a cuppa. Yep, that fast. In fact, you'll probably be done with time to spare!
PS - Online Booking for October will be coming very soon! I've had a couple of you lovely humans ask so it won't be long. I promise.

August is very nearly booked the hell out. 😅 And I'm SWEATING about it.
Y'all are amazing and I'm so honoured you guys are keen to book in with me. I never imagined in a million years that I would be booked like this for so many awesome projects and styles.
The last spots for August are:
🧡 One spot left: 8th, 14th, 21st & 23rd
🧡 Limited availability: 25th, 26th, 28th & 29th
September is now filling up too, which feels deeply unreasonable because I’m pretty sure it was March five minutes ago. 😂 Anywho, we are here now. Time flies doesn't it?
The books for September are a little more flexible but that isn't lasting long. I know it sounds like I'm just repeating myself and just marketing the hell out of this but, truly, you need to book in advance. Especially if you are desiring specific dates for events and such. Unfortunately I only have one pair of hands to create dreadlock and braid magic. 🪄
You can grab any of the available bookings by locking it in over at https://www.evelynjadecreations.com/s/appointments in as little as two minutes. I've even streamlined the booking system with clearer descriptions, better options and more services available to book online (no more waiting on replies!)
So anyways, that’s the calendar situation. 😅 Cause I know a lot of you are confused as to why the days you want are not available online. I'm just a very busy bee.

After months of trying braid-in dreadlocks, this client took the huge leap to finally get her dreadlocks made permanent! 🥳
She's now rocking some gorgeous dreadlocks with:
✨ Human hair extensions from Seamless1
✨ Soft, loose ends for a natural finish
✨ A little bit of bangs/fringe left out to give endless styling options
So many of my lovely clients start out with braid-in dreadlocks to get a feel for the look before they fully commit. If you are sitting on the fence and don't feel quite ready to dive right in the deep end, pop me a message and ask about what temporary dreadlock options are available.
You never know. You might love it so much that you say "Screw it, let's do natural dreadlocks!" just like this lovely client.
