Handwriting doesn’t have to start with a pencil ✨
For so many kids on the autism spectrum, fine motor skills are hard — not because they’re not capable, but because their hands need different ways to learn.
👉 Build strength through play
👉 Practice shapes in sensory ways
👉 Make it meaningful before making it “neat”
When we meet kids where they are and make learning playful, confidence comes first… and handwriting follows.
Progress isn’t about perfect letters — it’s about empowered hands 🤍

3 ways to build real trust with a child on the autism spectrum 💙
As an autism mum *and* an autism therapist, I’ve learned that trust isn’t built through “perfect strategies” — it’s built through safety, patience, and connection.
Here’s what truly makes a difference ⬇️
• Follow their lead— connection comes before compliance.
• Respect communication in all forms— behavior is communication.
• Be predictable, not demanding— consistency builds safety.
Trust grows when a child feels seen, understood, and accepted exactly as they are. Progress follows connection — always.
💙 From one autism parent to another, you’re doing more than you think.

Getting the recommended daily fruit and vege into kids can be tricky. We have a simple hack that can help reduce the anxiety around eating new foods. Ingredients and method below ⬇️
*
*
10 fresh strawberries
10 grapes
10 blackberries
5 x skewers
1 cup of water
1/2 cup sugar
Large bowl of iced water
Method
Place the fruit on the skewers, spreading the different fruits across the skewers
Add the sugar to the water
Place the water/sugar into the microwave for 2 mins then stir. Repeat this process until the mixture is light yellow and thickened
Quickly place the fruit skewers into the mixture, covering them completely.
Immediately dip the fruit into the iced water and allow the mixture to harden
Crunch and enjoy!
