Book Week ‘Symphony of Stories’ is fast approaching! This is one of our favourite weeks here at Kinda Kapers Maitland, and we love to see all of the amazing, fun costumes that the children (and staff) wear to celebrate our love of literacy.

Wearing a costume can be as easy as finding some items at home and DIY-ing this! 🧤🧣🧥Below is some photos of easy costumes you can make at home. Remember that we also have costumes that your child can use for the day! These will be located in our rooms and foyer next week.

Here at Kinda Kapers Maitland our educators embed the 8 Ways of Learning Framework into our everyday programming and practice, linking to the EYLF.
These culturally responsive methods connect traditional knowledge processes with modern teaching, and are holistic, place-based and relational 🍃

These 8 Ways of Learning are:
• Story Sharing • Learning Maps • Non-verbal
• Symbols and Images • Land Links • Non-linear
• Deconstruct/Reconstruct • Community Links

They connect young children to content through narrative, place, movement and community 🍂

The Wombats have been busy exploring their creative side lately, as they use a variety of different paints, materials and resources. Painting helps our Wombats to build important physical, sensory and cognitive skills, encouraging early exploration and brain development, as well as increasing their hand eye coordination and muscle development. They explore textures, build focus and express themselves.

Our centre cook Rach knows just how to keep our children happy and full of energy with the delicious food she provides everyday! These nutritious fresh fruit and veggie platters start the children’s day off by providing fun flavours, a rainbow of colour and daily vitamins that our children need to grow strong and healthy!
