A time Friday meditation tip for you.
One of the things I hear all the time is:
"I can't meditate because I can't stop thinking. "
But meditation isn't about having an empty mind.
In today's video, I'm sharing a simple way to think about those wandering thoughts and why they don't mean you're doing meditation "wrong".

The goal isn't to never wander. The practice is learning to return.

You don't have to clear your mind to meditate.

This is probably one of the most persistent misunderstandings about meditation.

People sit down.

Thoughts appear.

And within a few minutes they decide:

“I'm terrible at this.”

But meditation isn't necessarily about creating a mind with no thoughts.

Your mind thinks.

That's what minds do.

The practice is often in learning to notice where your attention has gone and gently return.

Again.

And again.

And probably again.

Some days may feel quiet.

Others won't.

Neither automatically tells you whether the practice was worthwhile.

If you've avoided meditation because you can't “switch your brain off”, perhaps you don't need to.

You can learn to relate to what your mind is doing differently.

If you'd like support developing your own practice, you can explore Finding Stillness, our new 8-week guided meditation journey.

Not everything requires an immediate response.

A message arrives.

Someone asks something of you.

A problem appears.

A conversation becomes uncomfortable.

And almost automatically, we can feel pressure to respond.

Now.

But sometimes the most helpful thing we can do is create a little space between what happens and what we do next.

You can say:

“Let me think about that.”

“I'll get back to you.”

“I need some time before I respond.”

You can read the message and not answer immediately.

You can notice the emotion before acting from it.

You can give yourself enough time to work out whether you're responding from clarity, obligation, frustration, fear or simply habit.

Pausing doesn't mean avoiding.

It doesn't mean you don't care.

And it doesn't make you difficult.

Sometimes a pause is what allows us to respond in a way that actually reflects what we think, need and value.

You are allowed to give yourself time before giving someone else an answer.

Have you ever looked at your life and thought, “This still looks like me from the outside, but it doesn't feel like me anymore”?
Perhaps nothing is obviously wrong.
You may have a career you once worked hard for.
Relationships and routines that have been part of your life for years.
Goals you once genuinely wanted.
A version of yourself that once fitted perfectly well.
And yet something has changed.
You have changed.
Outgrowing an old version of yourself can be strangely uncomfortable because we don't always have a new identity waiting to replace it.
Sometimes we find ourselves in the space between:
who we have been
and
who we are becoming.
That space can feel uncertain.
But uncertainty doesn't necessarily mean you're lost.
Sometimes it means you're growing.
Our newest AMHCC Knowledge Hub article explores this experience:
When You Outgrow Your Old Self
We'll look at identity, changing values, relationships, careers, personal growth, the discomfort of transition and what it means to allow yourself to become someone different without rejecting the person you once were.
Read the full article here:

And I'd love you to sit with this question:
Is there a part of your life that still fits the person you were, but no longer quite fits the person you are now?

It’s official. Finding Stillness enrolments are now OPEN! ❤️

I have been looking forward to sharing this announcement.

Our very first Finding Stillness: An 8-Week Guided Meditation Journey begins this October.

I created Finding Stillness for people who want to experience the benefits of meditation but perhaps don't know where to begin, struggle with a busy mind, have tried meditation before and found it difficult to maintain, or simply feel like life has become a little too full and they need some space to reconnect with themselves.

This isn't about becoming “good” at meditation.

We start gently and build together.

Across eight weeks, we'll explore the mind, stress, presence, compassion and self-care, different meditation practices, and how to build a practice that can realistically become part of everyday life.

You'll also receive your own professionally designed Finding Stillness Participant Journal, which we'll use throughout our journey together.

Program details:
✨ Begins Tuesday 13 October 2026
✨ 7:00 pm–8:30 pm AEDT
✨ Live online via Zoom
✨ Eight-week guided program
✨ Limited to just 12 participants
✨ Founders Rate: $695

This is our inaugural Finding Stillness group, which makes this one particularly special to me.

If you've been feeling like it's time to slow down, make some space for yourself and learn how to create a meditation practice that genuinely fits into your life, I would love to have you join us.

Enrolments are now open.

ENROLMENTS ARE NOW OPEN
I am so excited to finally announce that enrolments are officially open for our very first Finding Stillness: An 8-Week Guided Meditation Journey.
Finding Stillness has been created for people who would like to learn how to meditate but aren't quite sure where to begin, as well as those who may have tried meditation before but struggled to make it part of everyday life.
You don't need to know how to quiet your mind.
You don't need to already have a meditation practice.
And you certainly don't need to be "good" at meditation.
We'll start at the beginning and build your practice together.
Across eight live weekly sessions, we'll explore:
• Beginning the Journey
• Understanding the Mind
• Understanding Stress
• Living with Presence
• Compassion and Self-Care
• Exploring Meditation Practices
• Building Sustainable Habits
• Continuing Your Journey
Every week includes guided meditation practice, reflection and practical tools to help you gradually develop a meditation practice that feels realistic and sustainable for you.
You'll also receive your own Finding Stillness Participant Journal, created specifically to accompany you through the eight-week journey.

Before you add something new, make a little space.
A new month often gets us thinking about what we want to begin.
A new habit.
A new goal.
A new routine.
Something we want to change, improve or finally make time for.
But this week, I'm inviting you to begin with a different question:
What would you like there to be more room for in your life?
More quiet?
More creativity?
More meaningful work?
More connection?
More learning?
More time for yourself?
Sometimes change isn't about finding a way to squeeze something else into an already full life.
Sometimes it begins by noticing what's taking up the space.
In this week's AMHCC newsletter, we're exploring exactly that, along with:
• a simple practice for the week
• reflective journaling prompts
• our Quote for the Week
• the latest from the AMHCC Knowledge Hub
• Finding Stillness, which opens publicly tomorrow
• our upcoming Free Online Information Session
• the next AMHCC accredited-program intake
If you'd like thoughtful reflections, practical wellbeing tools and the latest from around the College delivered to your inbox each week, you're very welcome to join us.

And for today, perhaps sit with this:
What would you like to make a little more room for this September?

A lovely morning connecting with people at the Natural Therapies Expo & Festival in Mittagong today.
While I joined from Victoria via Zoom, it was wonderful to be able to chat with people visiting the AMHCC table, answer questions and share a little more about the different meditation, holistic counselling and professional development pathways available through the College.
A very big thank you to Jen for having AMHCC represented at the Expo, for looking after everything at the table, and for sending through these photos. It was lovely to see our College resources out there and being shared with the community.
One of the things I particularly enjoy about events like this is the opportunity to have real conversations. People are often curious about meditation, holistic wellbeing or a possible new professional direction, but they don't always know where to begin. Sometimes being able to simply ask a few questions is the first step.
And thank you to everyone who stopped by the table, picked up information or joined me for a chat on Zoom today. I hope our paths cross again.
If you discovered AMHCC at the Expo and would like to explore further, our Course & Career Pathways Guide is a great place to start.
