Two weeks ago Australia had the privilege of competing at the ITF Open in China. It was an excellent opportunity to not only display Australian talent, effort, and skill but also to grow, learn, and develop physically, mentally, and spiritually alongside others on an international stage. We couldn't be prouder and happier with Australia's performance and involvement and look forward to reaching new heights.

Australia’s One Legacy International Taekwon-Do Federation proudly attended the 2026 Suzhou ITF Open, organised by Master Ye. Our delegation of 15 people, including 8 competitors across junior and senior divisions, achieved outstanding results with Grand Champion titles, gold, silver and bronze medals in individual patterns and sparring events.
Our Australian team was also honoured to perform a Taekwon-Do demonstration during the opening ceremony. The competitors displayed excellent technique, strength and spirit, impressing the audience while proudly representing the quality of Australian Taekwon-Do on the international stage.
Beyond the medals, we are especially proud of the respect, courtesy and sportsmanship shown by every member of our delegation. New friendships were formed with Taekwon-Do practitioners from around the world, creating memories and connections that will continue long after the competition.
A heartfelt thank you to Master Ye and the organising team for their incredible hospitality, warm welcome and wonderful event. We are grateful for this unforgettable opportunity to compete, learn, perform and represent Australia together. 🥋🌏

A new belt is an exciting achievement, but the greatest reward is the person a child becomes while earning it.

The real progress appears when they attend class even when they feel tired, accept correction without giving up, help a beginner, or continue practising after making a mistake. Through these moments, children develop perseverance, humility, respect, self-control, and responsibility.

Taekwon-Do also teaches that physical strength must be guided by good judgement. Self-defence is not about looking for a fight. It is about awareness, protecting personal boundaries, avoiding unnecessary conflict, and using skills responsibly.

Children will not make the right choice every time. Good character grows when they recognise mistakes, learn from them, and return determined to improve.

A belt shows achievement. Character shows what that achievement truly means.

A child forgets part of a pattern, loses balance, or becomes frustrated when a technique feels difficult. In Taekwon-Do, that moment is not treated as failure. It becomes an opportunity to pause, listen, adjust, and try again.

Resilience does not mean never feeling disappointed. It means learning how to recover and continue with a better understanding. This helps children face challenges at school, at home, and in everyday life.

Self-defence also requires resilience. Children learn to remain aware, create distance, use a confident voice, and seek help rather than panic. Every time they choose to try again, they become stronger in body, mind, and character.

Mistakes are part of learning. The willingness to improve is where growth begins.

This weekend, One Legacy International Taekwon-Do Federation welcomed an overseas media team to film an exciting martial arts documentary dedicated to authentic Taekwon-Do. Across two action-packed days, our members delivered powerful demonstrations showcasing traditional techniques, combat skills and the philosophy that gives true martial art its deeper purpose.

The cameras captured Taekwon-Do’s complete combat range—from explosive punches and kicks to controlled knee and elbow techniques in free sparring, as well as ground sparring demonstrated in competition and practical self-defence settings. Beyond physical ability, the documentary also highlights discipline, respect, perseverance, courage and the indomitable spirit developed through dedicated training.

Among the many unforgettable moments were Grand Master’s spectacular high twisting-kick break and his renowned demonstration of breaking solid roof tiles! Stay tuned for the full documentary release and experience the physical power, spiritual depth and complete martial art of One Legacy ITF Taekwon-Do Federation!
