Congratulations to our Oh Do Kwan Head Instructor GM Carmela Hartnett who teaches at our Maddington and Riverton clubs on winning Gold at the National Team Selections. The win earns her a spot on to the World Championships in Korea in September. Carmela is a multiple time World Championship medal winner and will be trying her utmost to add to her World Medal count. Congratulations also go to GM Ross Hartnett who has been selected as one of 6 National Coaches to the 59 member National team.

Congratulations to all who passed central metro Gup grading last week. We had a high number of high passes, resulting in quite a few honours passes, well done. Thank you to our examiners for the week.

43rd Year of our Perth Open yesterday, The longest running Taekwondo Competition in Australia by a single organisation or Club. A big thanks to all our volunteers and officials who helped at our Perth Open Championships. Special thanks to referee chair Grand Master Jenny Crutchett, Master Graeme Hartnett and his Belmont club who set up and bumped out and Grand Master Anita Tippet and the Port Kennedy club members who helped and our Riverton, Leeming and Maddington instructors and members under the direction of Grand Master Carmela Hartnett who helped. Congratulations to all the competitors and coaches who entered, well done.

Well done to all our Oh Do Kwan members who participated in State Poomsae Training on Sunday.

Last weekend two of our Grandmasters, Carmela and Ross Hartnett visited Melbourne too take part in the annual reunion of students of Grand Master Yong Dai Cho on Saturday evening. Ross was the first student Grand Master Cho graded to 9th Dan and attends each year to show respect and gratitude to his Grand master. While in Melbourne Grandmaster Ross and Carmela also took the opportunity to train, firstly on the Friday at early morning training at Schembris Taekwondo with a large group of Masters.
GM Carmela also did a Saturday morning session at the club of Master Pat Reps and then repeated on Sunday training along with a number of National team members.
Both Grandmasters train regularly to keep up with knowledge and standards.

State Poomsae training 15th Feb - Open to Blue Belt up 10years and above. Payment on day.

Classes at many Dojangs start next week please check your inbox for details included in Newsletter. Maddington HQ starts Thursday the 8th and Holiday time table has been e-mailed. We have been busy over the holiday period with painting inside the dojang and signage on our windows, we hope you all like it. We still have a few more tasks to do. We look forward to seeing everybody back in 2026.
