Book Week is here, and this year’s theme — Symphony of Stories — invites our students to explore how words, characters, and imagination come together like music to create powerful stories. 🎼✨

Throughout the week, St Francis' School will celebrate reading with classroom activities, shared storytelling, and creative projects that highlight how every book has its own rhythm, melody, and magic. From picture books to novels, our students will discover how stories can move us, inspire us, and connect us. 💛📖

We’ll also be hosting our much loved Book Week Parade today (photos to follow soon), where students can dress as their favourite characters and bring their chosen stories to life. Expect colour, creativity, and plenty of literary fun. 🌟👗🧙‍♂️

Let’s celebrate the joy of reading and the beautiful symphony created when our community comes together to share stories. Here’s to imagination, creativity, and the books that stay with us. 🎻💫

🚑✨ Students Attend the P.A.R.T.Y Program at Midland St John of God Hospital ✨🚑

Last week, our Year 10 students took part in the P.A.R.T.Y Program (Prevent Alcohol and Risk Related Trauma in Youth) at St John of God Hospital Midland, and it was an incredibly powerful learning experience. The program gives young people a real world look at how risky decisions — especially around driving, alcohol, and peer pressure — can lead to life changing consequences. 🧠💛

Students heard from trauma specialists, paramedics, nurses, and rehabilitation teams who work with patients every day.
They learned about:
• Real life emergency scenarios and how quickly situations can escalate
• The impact of trauma injuries on individuals, families, and communities
• Safe decision-making strategies to help them navigate risky situations
• The long road of recovery for people who experience serious injury

Programs like P.A.R.T.Y empower young people to make safer choices, understand consequences, and look out for one another. 🌿🙌 Our students showed maturity, empathy, and deep reflection throughout the day.

A huge thank you to the incredible staff at Midland St John of God Hospital for providing such a meaningful and eye-opening experience. Their dedication to youth safety and education is truly appreciated. 🌟

🎓🔍 Career Curious TAFE Incursion 🌟🤖

Our students had an exciting Career Curious incursion last Thursday with our amazing partners at TAFE! Using VR headsets 🥽, they explored a wide range of future career pathways — from healthcare 🏥 to trades 🔧, engineering ⚙️, hospitality 🍽️, and creative industries 🎨. The immersive simulations gave them a real taste of what different jobs feel like, helping spark curiosity and confidence about their next steps.

We were also joined by fantastic TAFE staff 👩‍🏫👨‍🏫 who offered personalised advice, answered questions 💬, and helped students understand training options and study pathways.

A brilliant day of inspiration, exploration, and future focused learning! Thank you to our VET Coordinator Mrs Karen Young for organising the incursion 🙂

NAIDOC Week 2026

We were proud to commemorate NAIDOC Week at St Francis’ School his week. It’s a time to recognise, honour, and celebrate the rich history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. ❤️💛🖤

Our students took part in many activities including boomerang painting 🎨🪃 They learnt about the cultural significance behind traditional designs while creating their own meaningful artwork. It was a hands on, creative, and beautiful way to connect with story and Country.

We also came together for a shared lunch of kangaroo sausages and kebabs 🦘🔥🍢. It was a chance to gather, yarn, and enjoy flavours that celebrate our First Nation's culture.

Thank you to our First Nations Education Assistant Jessica for organising the activities, food and decorations for the week.

Always Was, Always Will.🌿

Today our school community paused to acknowledge National Sorry Day. Together, we reflected on the history and impact of the Stolen Generations and took time to learn, listen, and honour the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
