This week, MultiLit director Dr Robyn Wheldall was a member of a panel discussing 'Excellence in Catholic Education' at the 7th National School Improvement Colloquium in Adelaide, hosted by Catholic Education South Australia. Robyn is a Literacy Expert on the National Catholic Education Commission's Educational Excellence Standing Committee. The event was a great opportunity to catch up with some of our colleagues.

The Murri School was recently announced as the winner of the 2026 National NAIDOC Education Award.

The school was celebrated for putting culture at the centre of learning, reducing suspensions and boosting high school completion rates.

Too much time is lost in Australian classrooms for effective teaching and learning to take place.

Our classrooms are among the most disruptive in the world, with up to 30% of instructional time lost to disruption according to research from CIS.

This problem can be solved; however Education departments need to do better at providing evidence-based advice and resources to their teachers if we’re to address this problem.

‘Cursory, fragmentary, and nebulous’ is how researchers have described much of the evidence sitting behind the behaviour support information offered to Australian teachers and school leaders on department websites.

QLD state schools will receive funding in October aimed at providing literacy and/or numeracy support to students through intervention programs. Over 875 QLD schools currently use MultiLit programs to address this need.
