Victorian Government school for Prep-Year 12 students. This page is for La Trobe Campus in Macleod West, VIC, Australia.
Charles La Trobe P-12 College is one of Melbourne's most innovative schools offering the latest in educational facilities and programs for students from Prep to Year 12. Our exciting P-12 College, which is the main campus of Charles La Trobe College, is located in the northern suburb of Macleod West, and is adjacent to La Trobe University. Inside you'll find a vibrant curriculum, a deaf facility,
passionate and expert teachers, respectful and accepting students, wonderful facilities and Quantum Victoria, one of six state specialist Mathematics and Science Centres. In addition to the main campus, there is a second smaller campus, the Olympic Village campus which offers a Prep – Year 6 environment with the same high quality programs. The Olympic Village campus enjoys the benefits of a small school with strong community ties. The La Trobe Campus has been arranged into two distinct program areas - the Prep to Year 6 area (primary years), and Year 7 to Year 12 (secondary years). In the primary years, students are supported to develop core knowledge and skills in Literacy and Numeracy. We are a La Trobe University Science of Language and Reading School (SOLAR), so our students begin reading instruction with learning through synthetic phonics, as they are developing language and reading comprehension. Students and teachers are supported in this work by our Speech Pathologist and expert Leading Teacher with responsibility for teaching, learning and curriculum. In the secondary years, students are provided with opportunities to use problem-solving strategies, creatively explore and build on their knowledge of the world and apply their learning with strong academic learning and hands-on experiences. Leadership opportunities are available to all our secondary students as they learn to be adaptive, confident and engaged with campus life and the wider community. While taking advantage of the community nature of our P-12 setting, students participate in a fully authentic secondary school experience, including a wide range of elective classes, school sport and instrumental music, and many extra-curricula and lunchtime club activities. We provide programs leading to VCE, VCAL and VET qualifications in the senior years. The College is committed to achieving excellence for all our students and this is supported by:

Before and After School Care Program
We pride ourselves on being a community that welcomes all students and families; our Deaf Facility provides positive education experiences for secondary aged students who are deaf or have hearing impairments and the International Student Program supports our students to become members of the global community. The inclusion of the The Pavilion School campuses (East Preston and Epping) helps us to remember that everyone has a right to education, and that often that means we must differentiate and personalise learning to meet the needs of young people and families. We are a family friendly Prep to Year 12 school offering ‘one stop’ morning drop off/pick up and streamlined school communications/business for busy parents and carers. Our partnership with Leap Kids enables us to provide high quality out of school hours care and school holiday programs. I invite you to join us on a tour of our wonderful school every Thursday morning at 9.30am - book at https://www.charleslatrobecollege.vic.edu.au/enrolments/college-tours/

Charles La Trobe P-12 College selected as one of 20 National Entrepreneurial Schools (2026–2027)
We are pleased to share that Charles La Trobe P-12 College has been selected as one of 20 public secondary schools nationally to participate in the Entrepreneurial Schools Project 2026–2027. Delivered by Young Change Agents in partnership with the Australian Secondary Principals’ Association (ASPA), this two-year national initiative supports schools to strengthen student agency, contemporary learning practices, and real-world relevance across whole-school culture and curriculum.
The project aligns strongly with our school’s strategic priorities, particularly our focus on:
● student voice and independence in their learning
● future-focused teaching and learning
● connections between learning, community and real-world contexts
This initiative is not about turning every student into an entrepreneur. Instead, it’s about ensuring every young person develops the confidence, skills and mindset to shape their own future and contribute positively to their community.
Participation will provide access to:
● principal and leadership professional learning
● educator professional learning and practical classroom tools
● support to establish or strengthen a student Youth Council
● national networks of like-minded educators and schools
● evidence-based impact measurement frameworks
● contribution to a national education policy paper
We look forward to working together to build on the strong practice already happening at Charles La Trobe P-12 College and to learning alongside schools across Australia.
“Being selected for the Entrepreneurial Schools Project recognises the commitment of our staff to empowering students as active, capable learners. This partnership gives us the structure and support to take that work further.”

We are very fortunate to have Quantum Victoria as a part of our College. Last week we participated in their annual conference and this week they are hosting a number of schools for the PrintACar finals. This event combines a number of STEM elements in the production of the cars and measurement of their performance. Good luck to all the visiting school teams.

We were also joined by Ms Soula, Principal of Charles La Trobe Primary School, who gave families a glimpse into what life looks like in primary school.
It was a lovely evening of learning, connection, and community 💛
