Year 11 psychology students put their neuroplasticity to the test last week at the ice rink! They learnt a new skill and built new neural pathways - applying their knowledge of Unit 1 Outcome 2 in an interactive and hands on way!

Looking back: Term 1 wrapped up the best way possible for our Year 7 and Year 12 buddies. They bounced into the holidays at BOUNCEinc, building friendships, sharing laughs, and making unforgettable memories together. What a perfect way to celebrate an amazing start to the year. We’re so proud of the connections our buddy program continues to create across year levels!

A big congratulations to all our students who participated in the Northern-Metro Region Divisional Athletics. A special shoutout to Cooper in Year 7, for breaking the Triple Jump record - he will go on with our Under 17s and Under 14s Relay teams to compete in the State Competition!

Today, our 4-6 students visited Parliament House and the Old Treasury Building. We explored how a bill becomes a law, and learnt the history and origins of Victorian Politics.

Last week our Year 10 History students went to the Melbourne Holocaust Museum and had the honour of listening to Sarah Saaroni, a Polish-born Holocaust survivor, tell her incredibly brave story. Our students were able to ask Sarah questions about her incredible life, and see some primary sources and artefacts from the Holocaust and WWII.

At Macleod College, we have our own Intensive English Language Centre, where students from around the world come to prepare themselves for mainstream Australian classrooms. The students spend 6 months learning English, and experiencing different parts of Australian culture and schools, including excursions to different places around Melbourne. Our IELC students have had the chance to try on some Medieval Knights armour, and have been to Bundoora Park farm, where they hung out with some typical Australian farm animals and made their own damper bread, with many more excursions and Australian cultural experiences to come over the next term!

In Term 1, our Year 9s started their new NINEfinity Program, with a focus on fundraising in the College Community. We had a car wash, bake sales, a henna station, and even a pie contest - with a twist! Thank you to everyone who came out in support of our Year 9s!

Our Year 12 Environmental Science students got the amazing opportunity to travel to Ecolinc in Bacchus Marsh to learn more about our native endangered species and how we support them. They then travelled to Mount Rothwell where they did a sunset walk, learning about the sanctuary's provisions to support these native species, along with a nighttime spotlight walk, where they were able to see the animals up close in their natural habitats.
