ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

🍃Cubby House for Kids is seeking a passionate and motivated Assistant Director to join our leadership team in a permanent part-time position, working 5 days per week (approximately 25 hours), with the possibility of additional hours as required. Working closely alongside the Director and existing Leadership Team. This role plays an integral part in supporting the day-to-day operations of the service, with a strong focus on relationships, quality outcomes, compliance, and maintaining a child-safe environment.

💛Key Responsibilities
· Work in close partnership with the Director to support daily operations and leadership.
· Assist with rostering and staffing adjustments to ensure ratio and qualification compliance.
· Act as the Responsible Person when required.
· Assist in leading service operations and provide leadership continuity by stepping into the Acting Director role during the Director’s absence, in collaboration with the leadership team.
· Support and mentor educators to build capability, confidence, and professional growth.
· Foster a positive, respectful, and collaborative team culture.
· Lead and support continuous improvement processes, including the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).
· Drive quality outcomes across all National Quality Standard areas.
· Coordinate policy and procedure reviews to ensure alignment with legislation and best practice.
· Support assessment and rating readiness, compliance documentation, and record keeping.
· Coordinate Workplace Health and Safety compliance processes, including audits, safety checks, and maintaining accurate compliance records.
· Work collaboratively with the leadership team to achieve shared goals and positive outcomes for children.
· Promote and uphold Cubby House for Kids’ commitment to child safety, ensuring children’s rights, wellbeing, participation, and protection remain central to all practices and decision-making.
🍃The role requires availability across school holiday periods and flexibility to support the service’s operational needs.
💛About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
· Diploma or Bachelor qualification in Early Childhood Education
· Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
· Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis qualifications.
· Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, or Senior Educator experience.
· Strong knowledge of the National Quality Framework (NQF), National Regulations,
and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).
· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
· A collaborative and supportive leadership style.
· Confidence in supporting compliance, quality improvement initiatives, and team development.
· A genuine passion for building strong relationships with children, families, and educators.
