Building Understanding, Inclusion and Empathy 💛🎭

Kindergarten 2 Engage in The Buddy Bench Puppet Show with Camp Quality via teams today.

This is a cause that is very close to our hearts at Goodstart Eimeo, making it especially important for us to help children understand what a child experiencing cancer, such as leukaemia, may be going through.

Through the Camp Qualilty puppets Deanand Kylie, our children were able to learn in an age-appropriate and gentle way about how cancer can make a child feel, how they may look different during treatment, and some of the treatments they may receive, including chemotherapy.

Most importantly, this experience helped our children understand that a child going through treatment is still just like them — they want to play, laugh, learn, make friends and feel included. 💛

We want to create an environment where every child feels included, supported, understood and valued, while also helping their peers develop empathy and understanding.

By having these conversations with children, we can help them know how they can be a friend, show kindness and support, and make sure no child feels left out because of something they are going through.

Jeans for Genes Day. The Nursery children had a great time painting on a pair of jeans for Jeans for Genes Day. They applied the paint using the small paint brushes and their fingers, making lines and dots on the Jeans. The children also experimented with the paint on their hands and making hand prints on the pair of Jeans.

The children have loved using the tyres in the playground to extend on their obstacle course by adding the tyres to create a tunnnel to climb through. This open-ended play supports child's physical development by building strength, coordination, balance and confidence whilst encouraging them to take safe, managed risks.

Tyres as a loose parts offer endless possibilities because there is no "right" way to use them. Children lead the play, make decisions and create meaningful learning experiences through exploration.
