🌟Here is the Mackay Eisteddfod 2026 results round up for TVS performers!
Well over a hundred performances were prepared and delivered last week to enthusiastic audiences. I just loved seeing all the performances where students shined!
🌟Choral:
Our newly formed KWWS youth choir competed successfully in two sections for the first time this year. Our ladies group WWWS competed in the folk section for the first time and again in the Jazz/Modern section. I am so proud of these incredible kids and ladies and even proud of myself for conducting in competition for the first time ever! We smashed it, and the audience really loved it!

My own performances this year were tainted with viral parainfluenza that arrived the week before eisteddfod and went straight to my voice. I prayed to the universe and did all the things that could be done to bring my voice back so that I was able to perform my own repertoire that I had been working on for almost 12 months. And I made the finish line… but only just. I still loved singing all my beautiful songs, but just wished I had that extra 15% of voice that I normally sing with. It was a trying week with my voice loss, one of my kids came down with a virus right in the busy middle of it all and my wonderful husband Dan was away at a family wedding for two days as well. Thank you so much to my young man, Jackson, for stepping up beyond his years to help out where needed when he wasn’t performing himself. We made it, but I’m not sure I want to repeat it like that again. Thank you so much to all my colleagues, friends, students and their families for their support through this very challenging time – it really meant a lot.

1st – Aria
1st – Classical Vocal Solo

🥳Major Award:
⭐Sharon Thompson: Phyl Williams Memorial Trophy Open Aggregate (awarded to the competitor securing the most points in any 5 of the 7 Open Sections)
An enormous thank you to my teacher Garrick Jones and to Judith Brown who not only supported myself and my studio, but also stepped up when needed to fill the place of two other accompanists that were not able to play this year.
A big thank you to the overall Eisteddfod Committee and our Sub-committee (Linda, Brandi and myself) led by the calm and organised Jeany Elliott.
Thank you to Dan and the kids for keeping the home fires burning through all the crazy. You have all worked very hard and your support is just amazing.
🎶…And onward we go to reset for a wonderful TVS Showcase at the end of the year!
P.S. It's time for a new intake for KWWS and WWWS! Now is the time to join one of these amazing choirs! Tell all your friends!!
