Holy Spirit College's music ensembles recently took to the stage at the MECC, achieving outstanding results across multiple sections of the competition โ see results below.

Drum Corps represented the College with adjudicators commenting on the group's "impressive stage presence" and describing their performances as "pleasant to listen to." Absolutely fantastic.

College Band competed in the highly competitive Developing Concert Band section against more than 60 musicians, earning an impressive 3rd place.

College Choir achieved excellent results across four sections. All groups received 2x 1st-place awards and 2x 3rd-place awards. Taking home the Overall Aggregate Award and the Myrtle McGeever Trophy!

Huge congratulations to Holy Spirit College Captain and Year 12 Student Lachlan T, who was awarded School-based Apprentice of the Year.
With these tremendous efforts, Lachlan has also been acknowledged as a Central Queensland (CQ) Regional Finalist in the Queensland Training Awards 2026.
Holy Spirit College also takes this opportunity to thank Lachlan's employer, Bauer Mackay and to recognise the wonderful support of local businesses within the Mackay community.

The countdown is on! Our college futsal teams are travelling up north to represent the College in the North Queensland Futsal Championships.
Principal Mrs Wales officially sent the team off this afternoon, offering encouragement as they get ready to take on some of North Queensland's toughest competition.
We are proud of the commitment and dedication these teams have shown to earn this opportunity and look forward to following their results throughout the championships.

Students from Holy Spirit College recently took part in the Racing Australia competition at the Mackay Showgrounds as part of the College's STEM extra-curricular program.
Working in teams, students applied their skills in design, engineering, problem-solving and teamwork while competing against other schools from across the region.

A special congratulations to Horizon Racers, who achieved an impressive 3rd Place in the 3DP Class.
The event provided students with the opportunity to put their STEM learning into practice while gaining insight into the technologies, processes and careers that drive the industry.
Congratulations to all students involved on the way they represented the College throughout the competition.

Thinking about life after year 12?
The college has received new apprenticeship opportunities that may be of interest to students planning their next steps after Year 12. If you're considering a trade or hands-on career pathway, look at the attached flyers for more information. This could be a great start to your future career.
Students interested in completing Year 12 while gaining practical industry experience may also wish to explore school-based apprenticeships and traineeships offered through the College.
For further information about those apprenticeship pathways, students are encouraged to speak with the VET Department.

QATSIF Graduation at CQUniversity // Congratulations to our Year 12 First Nations students who recently celebrated their graduation through the Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Foundation (QATSIF).
A special congratulations to Lachlan, who represented Holy Spirit College as a College Leader and proudly took on the role of MC for the graduation ceremony alongside a graduate from St Catherine's Catholic College, Proserpine.
We extend our thanks to Director Mike Nayler and Aunty Deb the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders who joined the celebrations, especially the Yuwi Elders, whose presence made the occasion even more meaningful.
As a College, we are proud to support our First Nations students throughout their educational journey and celebrate their achievements as they prepare for the next stage of their lives.
