Celebrating Academic Achievement // This year, more than 42% of ATAR-eligible Year 12 students achieved 100% in at least one internal assessment, with 10 students earning a perfect score.

While the results are impressive, they also reflect the work completed behind the scenes through classes, study sessions, drafts and revision.

Well done to all Year 12 students as they continue preparing for their final assessments.

Year 7 QMEA workshop //This term, students recently took part in workshops delivered by Queensland Minerals and Energy Academy, exploring how pulley systems are used in industry and the science behind how they work.

Through a series of practical challenges, students designed, tested and refined pulley systems to lift different weights, applying their learning in a hands-on way while working together to solve problems.

Thank you to QMEA for providing our students with this opportunity.

Looking to Make a Difference in Your Community?

Many of us know St Vincent de Paul Society (Vinnies) through the support it provides to people experiencing hardship in our local community.

Behind every visit, conversation and act of assistance are people choosing to give their time in service of others. Vinnies is currently inviting expressions of interest from those who would like to become a Society Member and take part in its Good Works.

There are many ways to get involved. You don't need special qualifications or a large time commitment, just a compassionate heart, a willingness to listen and a desire to support others.

For more information or to express your interest, email [email protected] or visit https://www.vinnies.org.au/qld/get-involved/join-us/become-a-society-member.

Japan Study Tour //One of the tour's highlights so far was a visit to Miyajima Island, where students travelled by ferry before spending the afternoon exploring one of Japan's most recognisable cultural sites.

Students learnt about the significance of local shrines, visited the famous Torii Gate, explored the island's shops and enjoyed seeing the friendly deer that roam freely throughout the area.

The final images below showcase the many perspectives of the iconic Torii Gate our students captured throughout the visit.

While a typhoon has impacted parts of Japan during the tour, our group remains safe and unaffected. We are grateful to be continuing with the activities and experiences planned for the remainder of the trip.

Our thoughts and prayers are with those communities affected by the severe weather.

Face painting at St Brendan's U8 Day // Our year 10 students recently volunteered at St Brendan's Catholic Primary School Mackay Northern Beaches U8 Day, spending the day face painting, creating glitter tattoos and bringing plenty of smiles to younger students.

From princess tiaras and Batman masks to soccer balls, flowers, tigers, and snakes, our students kept busy bringing each child's design to life.

Thank you to our Year 10 volunteers and to St Brendan's Catholic Primary School for such a warm welcome.

Japan Study Tour // Our students have packed a lot into the first half of their Japan Study Tour, experiencing everything from modern city life to some of Japan's most significant cultural and historical sites.

Students then said farewell to their luggage, navigated Tokyo Station and boarded a train to Kyoto, where they settled into traditional accommodation and slept on futons.

Kyoto provided plenty of opportunities to experience Japanese culture firsthand. Students took part in a kimono dress-up experience, attended a traditional tea ceremony, and explored the city's streets, shops and historic areas.

Throughout the trip, students have embraced every opportunity, whether navigating busy train stations, adapting to new customs or stepping outside their comfort zones.

We are proud of the way they have approached each experience and look forward to sharing more highlights from the remainder of their journey.
