Today we are super proud to debut our 2026 annual MKEL branded indigenous shirts from BW Tribal.

This year the design 'Family Strength' by Alison Simpson was chosen to represent Relationships and connections that are made in the first 3000 days of children's lives being paramount and necessary to building the foundations where children develop a strong sense of self, trust, belonging, resilience and a lifelong capacity to learn and thrive.

It is through these foundations that we as educators remain a part of the children's lives always.

By wearing these shirts we increase opportunities for conversations and curiosity along side indigenous history, art and traditions.

This month we celebrate Miss Gem Gem and thank her for the beautiful nutritious meals she makes with love and care every day.

Gem has been with us for over 2 years and aswell as her kitchen talents, she spends time out on the floor with the kids playing and learning and imparting wisdom on junior educators.

Thankyou Gemma for being an integral part of the team and sharing positivity and happiness with the team as you fall in love with your job again and again each day.

Last Friday we had our favourite ladies from Bush Babies visited with Jack and Jill, 2 beautiful Joey's who's favourite thing to do at home is fall asleep together on the couch.

We enjoy finding new ways to invite and include the community in our centre and look forward to having the ladies from Bush Babies back again soon.

Last week on Wednesday we had our fortnightly session with Miss Jess from Mini Monstars where the children are lead through a yoga session allowing them to access different tools for regulation and to stay in controls of their wellbeing.

The children love when they see Miss Jess arrive and show such joy through her sessions - thanks Miss Jess!

Today we invited Pioneer Catchment Landcare to the centre to help us improve our fence line garden by planting new native screening plants and also starting our native herb gardens in our Junior yard.

We are extremely excited to watch our garden grow and learn about our native plants.

Earl and Lee were incredible teachers for teaching our children (and educators) about the plants we were introducing and how to look after them.

Earl is a local songwriter and author of the picture book Barrarina - We look forward to inviting him back to the centre to share his book and music with us. A huge thankyou to for being with us today.

Our rooms got creative for the 2026 threatened species bake off, decorating chocolate mud cakes inspired by the endangered kangaroo Island echidna.

From spiky chocolate creations to imaginative decorations, each room brought their own special touch while learning about the importance of protecting our precious native wildlife.

A huge congratulations to all our little bakers, educators and families for getting involved and celebrating conservation through creativity, cooking and fun!

This Bravehearts Day, Friday 11 September 2026, our team is standing with Bravehearts to help protect children and support their vital work in the prevention and treatment of child sexual abuse.

Today we are raising money to help Bravehearts prevent child abuse.

Today we are using our new favourite Key Word Sign 'Brave' across the service and encouraging conversations between educators and children around bravery and how important their voice is.
