Symphony of Stories 🎶📚✨

What a wonderful Book Week 2026 we have shared at St Jakobi! 💛

As a Lutheran learning community, we embraced this year’s theme, “Symphony of Stories,” celebrating the joy, wonder and connection that stories bring to our lives.

From our babies through to Year 6, and alongside our wonderful Educators, our community came together to connect with the power of storytelling and imagination. 📖🌈

Through books, characters, costumes, creativity and shared experiences, our children were reminded that stories can help us dream, wonder, laugh, learn and see the world in new ways.

Every story adds its own special note to our community — and together, we create a beautiful symphony. 🎶

Happy Book Week from our St Jakobi family!
Better together. 💛

🌏 Planet Protectors Sustainability Excursion 🌿

Our Year 3/4 students took their learning beyond the classroom during their visit to Mr Rick Steicke’s (who also doubles as the St Jakobi bus driver and groundsmen) property in Eden Valley, exploring what sustainable living looks like in a remote, off-grid location.

But this wasn’t just an excursion… the Children of St Jakobi were sent on a mission! 🕵️‍♀️🌱

Students worked through four Planet Protector missions:

⚡ Mission 1: Energy Detectives
Investigating how energy is generated, used and conserved in an off-grid environment.

💧 Mission 2: Water Warriors
Exploring where water comes from, how it is used and ways to reduce water waste.

♻️ Mission 3: Waste Warriors
Discovering ways to reduce, reuse and rethink our waste.

🌿 Mission 4: Nature Protectors
Looking closely at the natural environment and considering how we can care for and protect it.

These hands-on experiences brought our ‘Planet Protectors’ Unit of Inquiry to life, encouraging students to think critically about their own choices and the impact they can have on our environment.

A huge thank you to Rick and Rosemary for welcoming our students and sharing their sustainable living practices with us. 🌏💚

Our young Planet Protectors are learning that small actions can make a big difference! 🌱

🌿 From Inquiry to Impact: Designing for Lyndoch

Our Year 3/4 students have been exploring the question of what an inclusive playground could look like for the Lyndoch green space as part of their Inquiry unit. 🛝🌳

Throughout the project, students have researched, discussed, designed and refined their ideas, thinking about how a playground could be welcoming and enjoyable for locals, families and visitors of all ages and abilities.

Students had the opportunity to receive feedback from The Barossa Council, helping them consider how their ideas might work within a real community space.

Our wider St Jakobi classrooms then joined in with a gallery walk, viewing the different proposals and celebrating the creativity and thoughtful thinking of our Year 3/4 students.

Families were invited to vote for their top three designs, with those three proposals to then be shared with local council.

What an exciting way for our students to see their Inquiry learning move beyond the classroom and contribute ideas to the wider Lyndoch community. 💚

Learning with purpose, sharing our ideas and working together — because we are better together!

WE’RE HIRING | EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR

Are you an Early Childhood Educator looking for a workplace where you feel supported, valued and have the opportunity to keep learning and growing?

We’re looking for a passionate educator to join our team. Whether you’re Certificate III qualified, Diploma qualified, or currently working towards your qualification, we’d love to hear from you.

This is a part-time position with a minimum of 24 hours across 3 days per week, with flexibility highly preferred. We’re looking for someone who is ready to join our team for an immediate start and become part of a supportive, passionate environment where educators are encouraged to develop their skills and pursue their professional interests.

We’re also proud to offer lower educator-to-child ratios, giving our team the time and space to build meaningful relationships with children and create quality learning experiences.

If you’re looking for a workplace where you can bring your ideas, grow your practice and genuinely make a difference, we’d love to hear from you.

Please send your resume or expression of interest to [email protected]
