🎨✨ What a Night to Remember at Holy Cross Arts Night! ✨🎭

Our school community was treated to an incredible celebration of creativity, talent and culture as students proudly showcased their artistic gifts at this year’s Holy Cross Arts Night.

The outstanding artwork on display highlighted the imagination, skill and dedication of our young artists, while our choirs delighted the audience with their beautiful performances. The energy and colour of the evening truly came alive through the vibrant Latin American dancing, which had everyone captivated and cheering from beginning to end.

A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful P&F Association for organising and running the bar, BBQ and raffles. Your support helped create a fantastic community atmosphere and made the evening even more enjoyable for families and guests.

We are also incredibly grateful to all staff who contributed behind the scenes, particularly those who dedicated many hours to the set-up, staging and lighting that transformed our spaces into a spectacular showcase of student talent.

A very special thank you goes to Mrs Soto, Mrs Sang and Mrs Artuso, whose incredible dedication, passion and talents brought Arts Night to life. Their commitment to nurturing creativity and providing opportunities for students to shine made the evening a truly memorable experience for all.

Congratulations to our students for sharing their talents so confidently and proudly. We are so blessed to have such a creative and vibrant community at Holy Cross! πŸ’™πŸ’›

πŸ”¬πŸ§ͺ What a Week of Discovery! πŸ§ͺπŸ”¬

Last week, our students celebrated National Science Week with an exciting hands-on science incursion that had everyone engaged, curious, and inspired!

Throughout the day, students became engineers, designers, investigators, construction workers, and problem-solvers, tackling a variety of fun and challenging activities. From building and testing designs to exploring scientific concepts through hands-on experiments, there was plenty of excitement and learning along the way.

The energy in the room was incredible as students collaborated, created, experimented, and discovered. Smiles, laughter, teamwork, and lots of β€œwow” moments filled the day as they embraced every challenge with enthusiasm and curiosity.

A wonderful time was had by all, and it was fantastic to see our young scientists so engaged in learning through exploration and discovery. We loved celebrating National Science Week and inspiring the next generation of innovators and thinkers!

Our Year 4 campers had another fantastic day filled with adventure, teamwork and plenty of fun!

Students challenged themselves through a range of exciting activities including the Low Ropes Course, Rock Climbing, Canoeing and Raft Building. It was wonderful to see so many students step outside their comfort zones, show resilience, encourage their peers and proudly take on new challenges.

The staff have been incredibly proud of the courage, determination and positive attitude demonstrated by all our campers throughout the day. Watching students grow in confidence and support one another has been a highlight of the camp experience.

This evening, everyone gathered around the campfire to roast marshmallows, share stories and reflect on the many memorable moments from the day. It was the perfect way to finish another action-packed day.

We're confident there will be some very tired campers tonight! 😴

Tomorrow, students will complete their final camp activities, Archery and Circus Skills, before returning to school at approximately 2:30pm. They are excited to share their camp adventures with their families and, no doubt, will enjoy a well-deserved rest this weekend after such a busy and rewarding few days.

A huge congratulations to our Year 4 students on the way they have represented Holy Cross throughout camp. We couldn't be prouder! πŸ’™πŸ’›

What a fantastic first day our Year 4 students have had at camp! πŸ˜„

The day was filled with adventure, teamwork, and plenty of laughter as students took part in Radio Rogaine, an exciting activity similar to orienteering that challenged them to work together and solve problems along the way. They also had a blast participating in a range of energetic Beach Games, making the most of the beautiful surroundings and cheering one another on.

After a busy afternoon of fun, everyone enjoyed a delicious dinner of spaghetti bolognese, garlic bread and salad, followed by a much-loved chocolate cake dessert! 🍝🍞🍫

It has been wonderful to see our students embrace every opportunity with enthusiasm, confidence, and big smiles. They have represented Holy Cross beautifully and are clearly having a fantastic time with their friends.

We can't wait to see what tomorrow brings, with a full day of exciting activities and new adventures ahead! β˜€οΈπŸ•οΈ

What a wonderful day of community, creativity and connection at Holy Cross! Today our students proudly showcased their amazing Book Week costumes in our annual parade, bringing favourite characters and stories to life with enthusiasm and imagination. As is Holy Cross tradition, we had a special show put on for us and were visited by Bob and Dob (from one of this years' shortlisted books).

We were also delighted to welcome our grandparents and special visitors for a memorable morning together. Their presence brought so much joy to our school as they shared in classroom activities, conversations and special moments with their grandchildren. Our Grandparents liturgy is always so special to us as we get to thank our grandparents and grand friends for all they do to care for us.

A heartfelt thank you to all our families, grandparents and staff who helped make the day so special. Events like these remind us of the power of stories to connect generations and strengthen the strong sense of community that makes Holy Cross such a special place. πŸ“šβ€οΈβœ¨

✨ Celebrating MacKillop Day at Holy Cross ✨

Today, our Holy Cross community came together to celebrate the Feast of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, whose feast day was celebrated on 8 August.

St Mary MacKillop dedicated her life to serving others, particularly those experiencing poverty, hardship and disadvantage. Her unwavering faith and compassion continue to inspire us through her famous words:

"Never see a need without doing something about it."

This morning, students and staff gathered for a special liturgy, reflecting on how we can follow Mary's example by showing kindness, generosity and care for those around us.

To help mark this special occasion, we adopted a special tradition. Every student received a Hava Heart ice cream, symbolising the big heart that St Mary showed throughout her life as she reached out to those most in need. It was a simple but meaningful reminder that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference in the lives of others. We were proud to adopt this tradition from St Mary of the Cross School, who for many years engaged in this tradition.

We particularly thank and ask for God's blessings on Sr Anne Cannon and Sr Anne Hoey who are two sisters of St Joseph who volunteer at Holy Cross. These two amazing women are living out the mission of St Mary supporting our students with their learning.

As we celebrate St Mary MacKillop, may we continue to live out her legacy by looking for opportunities each day to serve, support and care for one another. ❀️
