Science Week at Lucas Primary School!

Last week, our students celebrated Science Week by getting curious and hands-on with a range of exciting experiments!

Throughout the week, students explored the wonders of science by testing pencils through a bag of water, creating a fizzing reaction with Coke and Mentos, discovering how a card can hold water in an upside-down cup, and working together to build the tallest cup towers.

It was fantastic to see so many students asking questions, making predictions, and learning through exploration and discovery. What a fun week of science at Lucas Primary School!

📚 Book Week Celebrations 📚

The countdown is on for our Book Week celebrations next Friday 28 August!

Students are encouraged to come dressed as their favourite book character and, if possible, bring along the book their character is from.

Families are warmly invited to join us for our Book Week Parade at 9.15am. We look forward to seeing all the wonderful costumes and celebrating our love of books and stories together!

The Lucas PS Brick Fundraiser is open to past students, families and interested community members and groups. This is a chance to support Lucas Primary School and have your name or design embedded in a permanent installation within the school ground.

Please contact the School Office on 53385000 for design sheets and information about payment. Final Designs due Thursday August 20.

Our Year 1, 2 and 3 students celebrated today by recreating some of their favourite picture story books, with our principals starring as the main characters! Our teachers also joined the fun by dressing in Mr Young and Mr Rodger’s signature looks!

Our Year 1 students had a fantastic morning on Tuesday with a special visit from author Nick Senior, who shared his book, How the 2-Digit Numbers Got Their Names.

The morning began with a fun warm up game, where students practised their subitising using tens frame flash cards. After enjoying an interactive story, they took part in a hands on place value lesson using an abacus, practising their counting and exploring how 2-digit numbers are made.

Our students loved getting involved and learning through such an engaging experience!

Our Foundation students celebrated being 100 days smarter, kinder and braver by dressing up as 100 year olds today! 👵🏼👴🏾🎉

There were plenty of grey wigs, walking sticks and lots of laughs as we celebrated this exciting milestone together. What a fun day for everyone!
