Loxton Preschool Centre Loxton Preschool Centre is a large rural full time preschool located in the Riverland town of Loxton. We are a ‘Be You’ Early Childhood site.

With a current enrolment of 50 students we provide early years education to students from the town and surrounding districts. At Loxton Preschool Centre we provide an inclusive service of quality learning and care where each child and their family feels valued and belongs, enabling them to develop a sense of self worth and to achieve maximum positive learning outcomes. Our vision is that all stude

nts reach their potential and develop skills for successful life-long learning. At Loxton Preschool Centre we are committed to a cycle of continuous improvement where student learning outcomes are at the forefront of what we do. Our four site values are; Excellence, Fun, Optimism and Respect. They underpin all operations and keep us focused on our common goal. We support the mental health and wellbeing of children and their families. Loxton Preschool Centre commences at 8:30am and concludes at 3:00pm Monday to Thursday. Friday sessions are held on alternate weeks commencing at 8:30am and concluding at 12:30pm. The Monday/Wednesday group children attend Fridays in weeks 1,3,57 and 9 of term. The Tuesday / Thursday group children attend Fridays in weeks 2,4,6,8 and 10. Loxton Preschool Centre operates under the Government of South Australia, Department For Education.

It’s an exciting week ahead at Preschool!

We’re celebrating Book Week! Please remember to bring in your favourite book so we can enjoy reading together. We would also love to welcome some special guest readers during the week (see last Thursday’s Class Dojo post for details).

𝑊𝑒𝑒𝑘 5 𝐻𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑙𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡𝑠: 𝑆𝑐𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒 𝑊𝑒𝑒𝑘 & 𝑀𝑜𝑟𝑒!

Our children have been busy exploring science—making predictions, trying hands-on experiments, and sparking curiosity. Max’s mum led a "Magic Rainbow" experiment, and we had fun with pepper and soap, static electricity, paper towel butterflies, and planting seeds.

Karen from the Loxton Library visited, sharing the shortlisted Book Week story "Frogs are Our Friends" by Toni D’Alia. We then made frogs and borrowed books to enjoy together.

Lizzie the Bearded Dragon Lizard has reappeared in our garden with the warmer days!!

Children have also been creative, learning to use different rollers for painting and making faces with loose parts play.

Week 5 at preschool is packed with exciting activities and important events!

On Monday and Tuesday, children will enjoy library borrowing, we'll be celebrating Science week by engaging in fun activities, Bullying No Way Week through discussions and stories about kindness and respect, and recognising Daffodil Day by viewing photos of our Daffodil Day display in the Loxton Medical Centre.

Don’t forget, there will be no preschool on Friday this week.

Today, staff from Loxton Preschool, Barmera Kindergarten, and Site Support Services came together for a valuable Pupil Free Day focused on Supporting Regulation in the Early Years.

𝐼𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑛𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑎𝑙 𝐷𝑎𝑦 𝑜𝑓 𝐹𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑑𝑠ℎ𝑖𝑝.

For Friendship Day we have had heaps of fun talking about what makes a good friend, how we can be kind to others, what we do with our friends and how much fun we have together.

Activities we did together were:
🌿 Friendship painting all together with balloons to make a banner
🌿 Learning a dance with a friend, then when our families picked us up they were our partners and we taught them the dance
🌿 Read a special book about being a good friend
🌿 Made friendship bracelets to give each other

It was a wonderful day celebrating the friendships that make our school community so special!

We’re delighted to announce that Relationships Australia will be hosting weekly Baby Massage sessions for our families, beginning Tuesday 11th August at 1:30pm.

These friendly sessions are a wonderful way to connect with your little one, while learning simple techniques to nurture and bond through the power of baby massage. All parents and carers with babies under 12 months are warmly invited to join us each Tuesday.
