My Personal Philosophy

The early years of a child's life are busy. Therefore, my goal is to make this ongoing learning experience safe, positive, and fun, nurturing the whole child as I strive to guide them into the next stage of development with confidence in themselves and an excitement for continued learning. Children need the assurance of being loved and cared for while they are enjoying an educational environment, Security and trust are very important components when running a Family Day care, and the relationship with each child as well as there families is of the utmost importance as children need to feel safe, secure and supported. Throughout our day I would strive for a developmentally appropriate, child-centered atmosphere where children have the opportunity to master new challenges through activities and topics that are meaningful to them, thus building their self esteem as they develop and learn, and promoting practices where children are confident and involved learners

I believe the environment plays a major role in the success of an early childhood environment. It should enhance the children's interests in all developmental areas. I believe learning in an early childhood environment is done most successfully through experiences that can be visited, explored, and revisited again and again. The environment should take into consideration the social skills, communication skills, physical abilities or challenges, and learning styles of each individual child where they can develop a strong sense of identity. Every child deserves to be treated with Kindness, understanding, fairness and love.

Important Update: Changes to Digital Device Use in Family Day Care (from 27 February 2026)

Child safety and privacy are our highest priorities. New national changes introduced by ACECQA and Australian governments will come into effect from 27 February 2026, strengthening how digital devices and children’s images are managed in education and care settings.

What this means for Little Squirts Family Day Care service:

Personal phones or personal devices cannot be used to take photos or videos of children.

Only a service-supplied or service-authorised device will be used to:

Take photos or videos

Store images securely

Share learning updates with families

The authorised device is used exclusively for education and care purposes and not for any personal use.

All images will be captured, stored and shared in line with privacy, safety and child protection requirements.

These changes align with the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations and the National Model Code for Taking Images in Early Childhood Education and Care.

Our commitment remains the same — to provide meaningful learning updates for families while ensuring the highest level of safety, privacy and protection for every child.

Kind regards,
Kylie

Children are the most precious passengers we’ll ever carry. Never leave them behind in a parked car, even if it’s a short errand. Car temperatures can rise fast, and within 5 minutes, children can feel those effects.

So look before you leave, every time you use your car.

🌊 Water Safety in Early Childhood
https://kidsafe.com.au/water-safety/

At Little Squirts Family Day Care, keeping children safe, confident, and supported around water is an important part of our program. As the weather warms up, we’re focusing on teaching simple, age-appropriate water safety skills that help children stay safe in a range of environments—from paddling pools and baths to the beach and backyard play.
Young children are naturally curious, and even small amounts of water can pose a risk. By learning clear, consistent rules—such as always staying close to an adult, walking near water, and waiting for instructions—children begin to understand how to look after themselves and one another.
These early lessons give children a strong sense of confidence, help them build lifelong safety habits, and strengthen their ability to make safe choices. We’ll be exploring water play, reading stories about safety, and practising routines that empower children to recognise when they need help and how to keep their bodies safe.
Thank you for supporting these important discussions at home. Together, we can help our little ones enjoy water play in a safe and happy way. 🌼

Water Safety Drowning continues to be one of the biggest killers of Australian children. Every year a number of children are killed and hundreds more are rescued from near drowning situations. The most common factor in childhood drowning is lack of supervision.Water Safety Resources This information....

Early Childhood Educators' Day 2025

07/08/2025

There are times when our daycare kids take care of us.

It’s in the way they hug us without asking when we’re having a rough morning.
It’s in the way they bring us pretend coffee when they’re playing kitchen.
It’s the way they sit close when they sense we’re not feeling 100%.
Or when they draw us pictures and say, “I made this for you.”

They don’t even know they’re doing it, but their little gestures heal us in ways we didn’t know we needed.
Yes, we care for them… but sometimes, they take care of us right back.

And that’s the kind of love that makes this work worth every bit of it. 💛
