Founded and run by Mary Dokos, a teacher with 22 years experience and a passion for helping students gain confidence and achieve their best. Welcome to Freedom Education, an Australian based website, with worksheets and resources for teachers and parents specialising in the field of English and Literacy. Our aim is to bring exciting and informative material to enable students to learn effectively

in the classroom and at home and provide parents and teachers with the latest educational research. Our worksheets span from primary to high school and also accommodate specialty areas, including scholarship preparation, special needs students NAPLAN, phonics, reading fluency, comprehension and spelling. Our material is current and follows the Australian National Curriculum strands. The methodology behind our worksheets is that they attempt to capture students on an auditory, kinaesthetic and visual level. They are a product of years of work with speech pathologists, occupational therapist, behavioural optometrists and educational psychologists. Along with our online materials we also have a tutor centre in Lower Templestowe that caters to the needs of our students. Should you have any further questions, please feel free to email us.

Great news for us in Vic!
Primary - Year 7 and Years 11 & 12 to go back on the 12th.
Years 8, 9 & 10 to go back on the 26th.
We will remain online for the next 3 weeks and pray we are allowed to go back to face to face.

Good luck everyone with isolation schooling tomorrow!
Just remember, even if you are not learning a new language, taking a short course, teaching your child to cook, to clean, to paint, to read, to write, to sing, to dance...and all the other ridiculous things we're expected to do concurrently, you're still an AMAZING parent.

It may not look like it, but planning the whole term for a group of 4 kids takes about 6 hours.
It is for this reason that I will only be able to offer my services to half of the students in my centre.

For all those being forced to homeschool, my main advice would be to take things slowly and focus on the basics this term. Whilst kids can catch up, for some it's harder. Doing something is better than doing nothing.

Automaticity - is the ability to do things without occupying the mind with the low-level details required, allowing it to become an automatic response pattern or habit. It is usually the result of learning, repetition, and practice.

Automaticity is important in Literacy and Maths.

This is what it looks like. It needs to be a 3 second response to a question/word.

Not all things need to be automatic.

Our writing session this morning focussed on persuasive writing.

(The tissues on the side are indicative of a little meltdown...but we persevered).

We'll be looking JUST at persuasive writing daily for the next 2 weeks. This is so we can refine our skills.

The plan we worked from is featured below. Our aim was to work on structure and expansion of each paragraph.

Here are some topics to consider:
1. Should everyone learn how to cook?
2. What are the benefits of lock down?
3. Which sport is the best?
