Mitcham City Brass, based in Adelaide, South Australia, has enjoyed over 120 years of continuous banding while enjoying much success over the years. Mitcham City Brass comprises two bands - our B Grade competing band which thrives on the challenge of continuing to develop its sound and quality of performance and, more recently, the development of our Mitcham City Brass ACADEMY Band, which provides

the opportunity for new players, those returning to banding, those wishing to branch out into playing a second instrument along with some experienced mentors, to build on their banding journey. Mitcham City Brass Bands are very active in the community, staging many concerts throughout the year as well as performing at a wide range of community events. Led by Musical Director Steven Packer, our repertoire includes traditional brass band marches, hymns and contest pieces as well as movie soundtrack and popular modern music from the 1940’s to the present. If you are organising an event and wish to have some live music - please contact us to discuss. Our rehearsals are held in our Band Room at the corner of Grange Road & Belair Road, Torrens Park opposite the Mitcham Council Offices/Chambers:
• Mitcham City Brass on Mondays from 7.15 pm
• Mitcham City Brass ACADEMY band on Wednesdays from 7.00 pm. Lessons are available for those wishing to brush up their skills, or those wishing to learn a brass instrument from scratch. Instruments are available for members to hire at very reasonable rates. Enquiries contact [email protected]

If you love the sounds of a British Brass Band, then you'll love this Concert featuring stirring melodies by both of our Bands under the baton of Musical Director, Steven Packer - Mitcham City Brass and Mitcham City Brass Academy will be honouring a proud musical legacy while building a vibrant future.

Join us at the SPF Hall, The Repat Health Precinct on Sunday 27 September 2026 at 2.00 pm.
Free carparking is available by entering via Gate 8 from Goodwood Road, along Oxford Circus.

A new survey commissioned by London Concertante found that 34% of adults regret giving up music; that’s around 19 million people.

This comes as provisional figures predict that only 4,635 students studied for music A-Level in England in 2026, down 4.9% from 2025 and 51% since 2008.

🥁 Our bandroom has had a complete interior makeover ... and doesn't it look amazing!!! 🎺

Now that almost everything is back in place, we were able to enjoy our new surroundings for an extra rehearsal today, in preparation for the coming State Championships being held at the end of August.
Thanks to the City of Mitcham for supporting what we do, the tradies for a fantastic job and to everyone who undertook the massive task of clearing and resetting the rooms.
