What a week we’ve had in the 4-6 room enthusiastically participating in National Science Week! From exploring how rainbows work, to investigating how species adapt to survive, and even uncovering the science behind spear fishing, our students have been curious, and completely immersed in science! There were plenty of “WOW!” moments. One thing is for sure, this is a week the kids won’t forget!

Table tennis days

Autumn is one of our favourite times to play in the yard here at Longwood.
Today, our Year 4-6 class continued analysing our class novel, The Elephant by Peter Carnavas, a beautiful and thoughtful story about love, family and the heavy weight of sadness.
We read the chapter "Monkey Bars", where the author carefully describes the schoolyard and helps the reader picture the setting through rich, descriptive language. Inspired by this, our students went outside to capture their own beautiful photographs of our school. They then used these images as inspiration to create a quick descriptive sentence, just like the novel.
It was a lovely way to connect literature, observation and writing, while appreciating the beauty right on our doorstep.

Our Year 4–6 students had a wonderful time making some delicious desserts for the Longwood community dinner! We hope everyone who attended enjoyed the sweet treats as much as we enjoyed creating them.

I know our kids are allowed to use the toastie machine, kettle, fridge and microwave... but if their lunches look this good they may need to supply the staff lunches as well 🤣😋🥰 YUMMY!
