Longreach State School The town of Longreach is located in Central Western Queensland. Longreach State School was established in 1893 with an enrolment of 102 children.

We currently have approximately 200 students from Prep to Year Six.

A few more happy snaps from a wonderful morning celebrating Book Week – Symphony of Stories! From our parade and book week rotational activities to sharing some delicious Book Week cake, there were plenty of smiles and special moments. 🎂✨

A huge thank you to Ms Thorburn and our Year 6 students for putting together such a fantastic morning, and to our families for joining us and for the incredible time and effort that went into costumes.

Days like today create core memories for our little people, and we loved seeing our school community come together to celebrate the joy of books and stories.

Prep–1J planted:

🔷🧊 Shapes Come to Life in P/1J! 🧊🔷

Our P/1J students have been busy exploring 2D shapes and 3D objects, making connections to where we see these shapes and objects in the world around us.

Students investigated the faces, edges and vertices of different 3D objects, counting and comparing their features before putting their learning into action.

Then came the fun part! Using matchsticks and playdough, students recreated a range of 3D objects and brought their Maths learning to life. 👏

🍦 Sharing Our Opinions in P/1J! 🍦

Our P/1J students have been learning how to share an opinion, give a reason and add some detail to support their thinking.

First students practised verbally sharing their opinion and explaining why before putting pen to paper and sharing their opinion, reason and detail in written form.

They then got creative with an illustration to match their writing!

And the verdict? It seems ice cream is definitely yummy… especially with sprinkles! 🍦🌈😋
