I am celebrating 30 years of operating Mohrcottage Family Daycare today. What an amazing adventure it has been! So many changes have occurred in the sector, and hundreds of families have come through our doors. Starting as a 27-year-old young mum of a little boy was very daunting, and I was not quite sure whether it was going to work or not. Some people thought I was crazy. Then, 5.5 years later, I had Gypsy and returned to work six weeks later, doing 50-hour weeks, which was very challenging. However, having an amazing hubby and family helped make this possible to achieve. I wanted to do this for my family. We have experienced all sorts of emotions and life experiences over the past 30 years. The love for all the children who come through my door is real. I take an interest in all of them. For my family, it has been the best thing. My aim every day is to make a difference in a child's life and do whatever I can to help make the transition as easy as possible. I would love it if families could share a photo of their child's time in family daycare over the years. It's so special to look back and know that having children's children in care is so special. We are still giving our all to ensure the children in our care are loved, nurtured, and safe every day. A big thank you to Gypsy for all she does to help make this still happen.
