We recently hosted Little Mountaineers for our growing community🍃✨

Designed especially for children aged 5 and under, the event brought together families for a morning of nature-inspired fun, sensory play and outdoor exploration. It was wonderful to see little ones discovering, creating and connecting while making special memories with their families.

Thank you to the awesome team YMCA Queensland Hilliard OSHC for having me run their incursion!

In the STUNNING lush green bushlands at the back of the school we enjoyed exploring nature, connecting with Country, building cubbies, making potions, rock pets, loose parts play and making new friends during our Bush Kindy For Big School program!

💚We are making a book for children's week! And everyone who participates will receive a free colour printed copy!💚

To celebrate Children's Week 2026 we have kindly received a grant from Children's Rights QLD to make a book!

"BUSH KINDY & ME"

Not just any old book....

It's a book made by the children all about a day in the life at bush kindy.

A resource that will showcase...

- Children's voices and choices
- The UNCRC - Rights of the children
- What makes them feel safe playing outdoors
- Favourite experiences and discoveries in nature
- Artwork, nature creations and inquiries
- Pattern and Rhythms of the day
- Favourite songs, games and stories
- Favourite nature play locations

We hope this book will make other children feel safe to go outdoors with their families and friends and play outside too!

A digital copy will also be available on www.bushkindy.com.au for everyone to enjoy as a free download!

Pretty chuffed with myself. Had the best morning at Tamborine Mountain College Early Learning Centre building shelters in the misty mountain rain!

Bush kindy incursions are so much fun. Bringing some nature play, some loose parts and flora and fauna exploration into a service is such a joy.

Connecting children of all ages with Country is such a passion of mine!

What a wonderful morning at Little Mountaineers! 🌿✨

Families came together at Round Mountain for a morning of outdoor adventure, creativity and connection, with children embracing the chance to explore through hands-on nature play.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and made the day so memorable. Seeing our little explorers spark their curiosity and make new friends was truly special.

Thank you Monique Dowd for hosting such a great first Lunchtime Chat.

Bush Kindy Teaching was glad to join online as an Alliance member.

Rebecca Martin's message to "start with culture" really stayed with me.

Knowledge systems regarding growing young brains already exist and have existed for over 65,000 years on Country throughout the First Nations of Australia.

We discussed how these practices are given new languages over time to describe what is happening in our interactions, relationships, neuro pathway building such as a neuro science perspectives and serve and return concepts.

So much of my work happens outdoors, on Country, and it was good to reflect and remember that culture and community knowledge shouldn't be something we add to a program later.

They need to be there from the beginning, shaping how children learn and belong.

As we continue to welcome spring, it was lovely to make fresh wattle inspired playdoh this morning and observe the children using it in creative ways with Gravillea flowers and leaves for a private ECEC incursion booking today.

The sweet nectar and scent from the flowers created such a extra sensory experience.
