Batik – A Canvas of Storytelling and Connection

This intricate Batik design, photographed at our AIIC Durack Campus, is more than an art form — it’s a bridge between cultures, histories, and communities.

Originating in Indonesia, Batik uses wax and dye to transform fabric into living canvases of symbolism and storytelling, expressing profound connections to culture, nature, and spirituality. The piece featured here was a special gift from our sister school Nurul Fikri in Indonesia, symbolizing the deep bonds of friendship between Indonesia and Australia’s First Nations peoples.

By blending Batik artistry with the richness of Indigenous traditions, we celebrate unity, resilience, and shared heritage — values that continue to shape our community at Australian International Islamic College.

Exciting News!

Australian International Islamic College is proud to announce that we will be hosting the 2025 Harmony Cup National Championships at the Gold Coast on the 27th & 28th of August!

Students from our Logan, Durack, and the Islamic College of Brisbane campuses will be uniting and proudly representing Queensland as they compete against schools from New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia in Basketball and Futsal across both primary and secondary divisions.

The Harmony Cup is more than just sport — it’s about unity, respect, and friendship. It brings together students from diverse communities, strengthening bonds and building lifelong memories.

We are thrilled to see our students step up on the national stage, representing not only their schools but also their families and faith. This is an incredible opportunity to showcase talent, teamwork, and the spirit of our community.

Minbar – Where Faith Meets the Cosmos

This stunning detail from the Ulu Cami, Grand Mosque of Bursa (14th–18th Century, Türkiye) reveals more than beautiful craftsmanship — it’s a window into the unity of faith, science, and art.

A minbar is where the Imam stands to deliver the khutbah, the very place the Prophet ﷺ once addressed the early Muslim community. In this example, early Muslim artisans intricately embedded the positions of constellations and planets into the woodwork, weaving together geometry, mathematics, astronomy, and spirituality.

This synthesis reflects a profound truth: that understanding the cosmos is part of understanding the Creator, and that beauty in design is a form of worship.

Muqarnas – The Art of Light, Geometry, and Faith

From the breathtaking Iwan of Shah Mosque in Isfahan, this muqarnas is a masterpiece of Islamic architecture, dating back to the 9th–15th centuries in Iran.

More than just decoration, muqarnas are an intricate 3D design that transforms ceilings, domes, and portals into a celestial experience. Their interlocking forms catch and scatter light, creating dazzling patterns that inspire awe and elevate the spirit, a reminder of our connection to the Divine.

Merciful Servants, Muslim Charitable Foundation, and Sadaqa Welfare are coming together to support those affected by *Cyclone Alfred*.
