Our final creative play… with colours straight from nature. 🌿✨

For our last creative activity together, we returned to one of the simplest sources of inspiration — the natural world.

Using onion skins and avocado skins, we created two completely natural dye baths and then experimented with tie-dye techniques on cotton fabric. Pegs, rubber bands, pop sticks, folding, twisting and tying all came into play as everyone experimented with creating their own patterns.

And then came the best part — unwrapping each piece to discover what nature had created!

No two were alike. Some were bold and geometric, others soft and subtle, and there were plenty of surprises along the way. There was so much delight in seeing the colours and patterns emerge from something as humble as an onion or avocado skin.

It felt like such a fitting way to finish our creative experiences together — playing, experimenting, sharing ideas and allowing nature to be both our material and our teacher.

And this photo says it all… everyone holding a piece they loved, each one completely unique, and a beautiful memory of our time creating together.

Nature really does have the most beautiful palette. 🌿🧅🥑❤️

This morning we played with colour… and what a joyful morning it was! 🌈✨

Using coloured sand — what many people will recognise as Kollam or Rangoli sand — we began creating beautiful geometric designs on the ground at the Sri Narayani Holistic Centre.

Some of the wonderful staff came out to join us, helping to create the intricate outlines and then showing us how to carefully fill the patterns with brilliant colour. Before long, everyone was involved — choosing colours, pouring sand, experimenting with our own designs, accidentally stepping on the occasional line, laughing, fixing things and simply enjoying creating together.

There was something almost mesmerising about working with the sand. The concentration it required naturally slowed us down, drawing our attention to colour, shape, pattern and the simple movement of sand through our fingers.

But more than anything, it was playful :)

The staff seemed to enjoy sharing the experience with us just as much as we enjoyed learning from them, and there was so much laughter and delight as the designs gradually emerged.

And the finished creations were simply stunning.

Another beautiful reminder that creativity doesn't need to be complicated. Sometimes all you need is a handful of coloured sand, some willing hands and people who are happy to play together. ❤️🌿

Today we were welcomed into a family, a home and a tradition that has been passed from generation to generation. ❤️

We visited a local traditional potter in Vellore who invited our Wild Stillness – Impressions of India group into his family pottery space to share something of his craft and his story with us.

And what a beautiful experience it was.

He explained how his family has made pottery in the traditional way for generations beyond memory — father teaching son, who taught his son, who taught his son. He and his brother continue that tradition today, working with clay gathered locally and using natural, earth-based materials and methods.

We watched as a lump of clay became a pot beneath his extraordinarily skilled hands, and then it was our turn! With considerably less expertise — and plenty of laughter — we had a chance to sit at the wheel and experience just a tiny part of a craft he makes look effortless.

But perhaps what made the experience most memorable was the warmth with which we were welcomed. His mother, father, brother and sister were all there, and what could simply have been a pottery demonstration became something much more personal — a little window into family, tradition and a way of life that continues to be held and passed on.

These are the experiences I love most when travelling. Not simply seeing a place, but meeting the people whose stories, knowledge and traditions give that place its heart.

If you are ever in the Vellore area and would like to experience traditional pottery in a genuinely personal way, visit: Thiyagarajan PotteryClay Vellore

I highly recommend this beautiful family experience.

Today was seeing service in action. 🌿❤️

We visited some of the community and environmental projects created by Amma through Sri Narayani Peedam — and it was one of those experiences that quietly shifts your perspective.

We began by visiting the schools, stepping inside classrooms and seeing something of the everyday learning environment experienced by children here. Simple rooms, rows of wooden desks, blackboards and ceiling fans, with every available space used to accommodate students.

For those of us from Australia, it was a gentle reminder of just how much we can sometimes take for granted. And, as an educator, that was particularly meaningful for me.

From there we visited Peedam's recycling program, where around two tonnes of waste generated each day is carefully sorted by hand. We watched women recovering what can be recycled and sending organic matter through composting and vermiculture processes. That compost then returns to the earth, nourishing the gardens and landscape around Peedam.

Our final visit was to Green Sakthi, Amma's environmental initiative, where thousands upon thousands of young trees and seedlings are being nurtured for reforestation and planting projects. The work extends beyond Peedam, supporting farmers and communities to bring trees back onto the land and regenerate the environment.

Today wasn't about grand gestures. It was about seeing what happens when service becomes practical — educating a child, sorting one piece of waste, tending one seedling, planting one tree.

Small actions, repeated thousands of times, becoming something much bigger.

Another beautiful and thought-provoking day on our journey together. 🌱🌳❤️

And now… we have arrived at Peedam. 🌿✨

After days of travelling, exploring, colour, movement and extraordinary experiences, our Wild Stillness – Impressions of India journey has brought us to the Sripuram Golden Temple and the beautiful Sri Narayani Holistic Centre.

And the rhythm has changed.

Here, surrounded by an abundance of nature and a forest filled with medicinal trees and plants, we have been able to slow down. To ground. To breathe. To simply be.

Our days have included wandering through the medicinal forest and immersing ourselves in creative experiences inspired by the natural world — botanical printing, nature printing, gathering, noticing, experimenting and making.

But perhaps the loveliest part has simply been 'playing'.

Playing with colour and plants. Trying things without knowing quite how they will turn out. Sharing ideas. Laughing — a lot. Learning from one another and delighting in what emerges.

There is something very special happening within this group. The connections that began forming on our first days together have continued to deepen and strengthen, and it has been genuinely moving to watch this beautiful little community unfold.

This is the heart of Wild Stillness for me — nature, creativity, presence and connection. Not striving to create something perfect, but slowing down enough to notice, to explore, to play and to be fully here for the experience.

We still have a few precious days together, and I’m excited to see what they bring. For now, though, we are simply enjoying being right here. 🌿❤️

And then we arrived in Tiruvannamalai… on the full moon. 🌕✨

What an extraordinary welcome.

Rising majestically from the flat plains is Arunachala, the sacred mountain associated with Shiva — and on every full moon, pilgrims come from across Tamil Nadu and beyond to walk the path around its base.

We arrived to find Tiruvannamalai absolutely alive.

The streets were overflowing with people. Market stalls, flowers, food, colour, noise, cows weaving through the crowds, sadhus and holy men, families and pilgrims of every age — all moving together beneath the full moon.

And so, of course, we joined them.

Near the Arunachaleswarar Temple, we stepped into the flow and walked part of the pilgrimage route alongside thousands of others. There was something incredibly moving about simply becoming part of that river of humanity — no need to know where everyone had come from or why they were walking. For a little while, we were simply walking together.

Around us were sadhus, pilgrims chanting and praying, rolling babas making their extraordinary devotional journey along the earth, and people quietly placing one foot in front of the other as they made their way around the mountain.

And always, there was Arunachala.

Ancient. Immovable. Rising above all the colour and movement below.

We couldn't have planned our arrival more perfectly. To experience Tiruvannamalai for the first time in the energy of the full-moon pilgrimage felt like an incredible gift — wild, chaotic, devotional, joyful and deeply beautiful.

One of those India experiences that is almost impossible to explain.

You simply have to step into the flow. 🌕🙏🇮🇳

Colour, movement and a little bit of magic… 🎨✨

One of our beautiful creative experiences in Pondicherry was learning the art of paper marbling — creating patterned papers using oil-based paints floating and swirling across water.

There was something wonderfully meditative about the whole process. Slowing down, watching colours move and mingle, experimenting without quite knowing what would emerge, and then that lovely moment of lifting the paper to reveal a completely unique design.

Before long, everyone was playing with colour, pattern and possibility, and some absolutely beautiful papers emerged from the group.

It was such a simple but joyful reminder of what Wild Stillness is about — taking the time to notice, experiment, create and enjoy the process without needing to control the outcome. 🌿

And judging by the smiles, I think we could happily have kept marbling all afternoon! ❤️

Pondicherry… what a beautiful place to simply be. 🇮🇳✨

There is something so captivating about this little pocket of India, where French and Indian influences seem to meet around every corner — in the architecture, the food, the colours, the leafy streets and the beautiful foreshore stretching along the Bay of Bengal.

Our Wild Stillness – Impressions of India group has been soaking it all in. Wandering, exploring, eating wonderful food, noticing the little details and, most of all, simply enjoying being together. The connections within this beautiful group continue to deepen, with so much laughter, conversation and shared experience along the way.

Even our accommodation became part of the experience. We stayed in a wonderful old heritage building, once the home of Pondicherry’s mayor, filled with history, character and the kind of slightly faded charm that makes you wonder about all the stories held within its walls.

There has been no need to rush through Pondicherry. It has been a place to wander, notice, taste, laugh and absorb.

Another beautiful layer in this journey we are creating together. 🌿❤️

A wander through handcrafted stores, narrow streets, wide open beaches filled with fishing boats… and immersing into the amazing carvings of Arjuna’s Penance at Mahabalipuram.

Very blessed time with an amazing group of women.
Coming together in a journey with open hearts.
