Police Incursion

On Tuesday 2nd June, our Early Stage 1 (Kindergarten) and Stage 1 (Year 1) students from the Bankstown campus enjoyed an exciting and educational visit from a local police officer.

The visit began with students exploring a real police vehicle. They were thrilled to see the flashing lights and hear the sirens as the officer explained how they are used to help keep the community safe. Students eagerly asked questions and had the opportunity to take a closer look at the police car and some of the equipment carried by police officers while on duty.

The officer then presented an engaging session in the classroom, teaching students about road safety and the important role police officers play in our community. Students learned how to stay safe when crossing roads, the importance of following road rules, and what to do in emergency situations.

The incursion was both informative and enjoyable, providing students with valuable knowledge about safety and community helpers. We thank our local police officer for taking the time to visit our school.

On Tuesday 12th May, selected Year 10 student mentors and the Year 7 cohort participated in their first Peer Support session for the year.
The aim of the Peer Support Program is to assist Year 7 students with their transition into high school by providing guidance, encouragement, and support from their Year 10 peer leaders. During the first session, students took part in a variety of “getting to know you” activities to help establish positive mentor and mentee relationships. The second session focused on friendships, teamwork, and building strong support networks.
We hope our Year 7 students continue to benefit from this valuable program as they settle into high school life with confidence and ease. We look forward to the upcoming Peer Support sessions, which will further explore topics such as self-esteem, resilience, and personal growth.

Year 5 Bushfire Awareness Excursion
On Monday the 18th May, year 5 had a Bushfire Awareness Excursion where they explored the effects of bushfire on environments, investigated how bushfires impact people, animals and ecosystems, and learned important strategies used to reduce bushfire risks in Australia.
Throughout the day, students participated in engaging activities including bushwalks, environmental investigations, bug catching, fishing activities, and even had the opportunity to try on authentic emergency service PPE gear. They also explored different approaches to fire management and discovered how Australian environments adapt to fire.
It was wonderful to see our students actively participating, asking thoughtful questions, and connecting their classroom Geography learning to real-world experiences. The excursion provided a valuable opportunity for students to build their understanding of bushfire safety while developing a deeper appreciation for the Australian environment and the importance of protecting it.

Y9 English Posters

The Year 9 boys have recently been learning about poetry in English class. During this topic, students explored different poetry techniques such as imagery, hyperbole, juxtaposition, rhyme, and tone. They learnt how these techniques help writers create emotion, meaning, and stronger descriptions in poems.
As part of a class activity, the students were asked to create colourful and informative posters about different poetry techniques. The posters included definitions, examples, and creative designs to help explain each technique clearly. This activity allowed students to improve both their understanding of poetry and their creativity.
Many students enjoyed designing their posters and sharing their ideas with the class. The activity was a fun and engaging way to learn more about poetry and how writers use language effectively.
Featured posters were designed by Jibril, Mahrush, Kanaan, Ahmad and Mohammed. Well done boys! Keep up the great work.

Year 10 Mock Interviews

On Tuesday, 19 May, the high school at Al Amanah College, in collaboration with the school Alumni, hosted a seminar for Year 10 students focused on preparing for their first job interview. The session provided students with valuable advice and practical strategies to help them succeed in future employment opportunities.
An informative presentation delivered by Rowayda, explored important interview skills, including professional behaviours, common mistakes to avoid, and the qualities employers value in the workplace. Students were also guided through examples of effective resumes and learned what should be avoided when preparing job applications.
The seminar was followed by mock interviews conducted by the alumni members Yahya, Hani, Amaan, and Rowayda. The alumni warmly welcomed the Year 10 students and provided them with a realistic job interview experience. During the interviews, students were assessed on the resume writing and interview skills they had been developing during their roll call sessions. They were asked questions about their skills, achievements, goals, interests in the role, and personal interests.
Students greatly valued the experience, receiving constructive feedback on both their resumes and interview communication skills, as well as guidance on how to confidently approach job applications in the real world.
A sincere thank you to the alumni students and the Roll Call teachers at Al Amanah College for their time and support in guiding students through this valuable experience. The students found the seminar and mock interviews both enjoyable and highly beneficial, and look forward to reflecting on the feedback provided by their interviewers.
