πŸ“šπŸŽ¨ A Special Visit from Mandy Foot! πŸ˜πŸ¦†βœ¨

The children in the Wallaby Room and Tree Frog Room were very excited to welcome Mandy Foot, an illustrator of children’s storybooks, for a special visit! πŸ’•πŸ“–

Mandy shared three wonderful stories that she helped illustrate, written by different authors. πŸ“šβœ¨ After reading the stories, Mandy demonstrated how to draw an elephant 🐘 and a duck πŸ¦†, and the children enthusiastically followed along!

It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to explore their creativity, build confidence in drawing, and discover the magic of storytelling and illustration. πŸ–οΈπŸŽ¨πŸ’«

A big thank you to Mandy for inspiring our little artists and making the experience so enjoyable! πŸ’›πŸŒŸ

In this session, children learn that every person has a right to personal space and that it is okay to say β€œyes” or β€œno” to touch πŸ‘βœ‹. They are introduced to the proper anatomical names for private body parts and begin to identify safe and trusted adults they can go to for help πŸ‘©β€πŸ«πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§.

Through interactive games 🎲 and gentle storytelling πŸ“š, children build confidence πŸ’›, develop protective behaviours πŸ›‘οΈ and increase their awareness of personal safety in a respectful and age-appropriate way 🌟.

✨ Children explored:
● The idea that β€œmy body belongs to me” πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈπŸ™‹β€β™‚οΈ
● Understanding personal space and learning the correct names for private body parts πŸ‘€
● Identifying trusted adults, they can turn to for support and help 🀝

We started our Term 3 Bush Kindy sessions on 20 July πŸŒΏπŸƒπŸŒž This term, we are focusing on providing children with more challenging opportunities to develop their climbing πŸ§—β€β™€οΈ and balancing βš–οΈ skills while exploring the natural environment 🌳🐞.

Children will also work collaboratively to design and build a large cubby house πŸ›– using natural materials πŸ‚πŸͺ΅, creating a space where they can engage iimaginative play 🎭, problem-solving 🧩, and teamwork 🀝.

Through these experiences, children will continue to build confidence πŸ’ͺ, resilience 🌱, creativity 🎨, and a deeper connection with nature πŸŒΏπŸ’š.

🐰 What a special day at our centre! 🐰
We were delighted to welcome Hailey's family and her two adorable pet bunnies, Milo and Lucky, for a very special visit.
The children were so excited to meet our fluffy visitors! They enjoyed observing the bunnies, feeding them carrots and lettuce, and practicing gentle hands as they softly patted them. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn about caring for animals in a fun, hands-on way.
Experiences like these help foster kindness, empathy, responsibility, and respect for living creatures while creating joyful memories that the children will treasure.

πŸ”₯πŸͺ΅ The children participated in a cultural incursion with David Booth, who shared a traditional damper-making experience. πŸ«“ They watched with great interest as David demonstrated how to safely prepare a fire before making the damper. The children gathered around the fire and patiently observed as the damper cooked among the hot coals. πŸ‘€

🎢 David also played the didgeridoo, creating sounds that represented different Australian animals, including a 🦘 kangaroo, πŸ• dingo, πŸ¦… eagle and 🐍 snake. The children listened carefully and excitedly identified and discussed the different animal sounds they could hear.

🌿 This meaningful, hands-on cultural experience encouraged curiosity, careful observation and a deeper appreciation of Aboriginal culture, storytelling through music, and traditional cooking practices. β€οΈπŸ’›πŸ–€

🌍πŸ₯ This month, our cultural focus is Nigeria, providing children with opportunities to explore and appreciate the rich traditions, music, and culture of another country. πŸ‡³πŸ‡¬βœ¨ To support this learning, we welcomed an African drumming incursion, where children listened to traditional rhythms, learned about the cultural significance of drumming, and actively participated by creating their own rhythmic beats using African drums. 🎢πŸͺ˜

The experience encouraged children to express themselves creatively while developing listening skills, concentration, coordination, and confidence. 🌟 As they explored different rhythms and worked together to create music, children practised turn-taking, cooperation, and communication, fostering a sense of belonging and respect for diverse cultures. ❀️🌏
