Jodie McLeod Author Visit
Our school had a wonderful author visit from Blue Mountains author, Jodie McLeod. Jodie shared her books with the students and discussed creative writing tips and techniques. Her engaging storytelling and insights into her inspiration for writing were extremely interesting. Our students were entertained with a hilarious bird performance from Mr Ryan and Mr Foster. We thank Jodie for being such an inspiring author and for visiting Cooerwull Public School.
If you would like to purchase Jodie’s books, please visit her website at
https://www.jodiemcleod.com/
Or her books are also available at Reader’s Heaven in Mort St, Lithgow.

Term 3 Week 4 - Class of the Week - K6 Copper
This week, Copper have been busy learning about the letter ‘f’! We have been practising identifying ‘f’ in words and working hard on writing it.
Each morning, we have also been practising our sight words. We are so proud of the progress everyone is making with recalling and spelling their words!
In Maths, we have been learning about position and using positional language to describe where things are. We took Spot on an adventure, moving him to different places and describing where he was. We have also been busy creating our very own maps and putting our new skills into practice.
Well done, Copper! We are so proud of all your hard work and learning this week!

Stage 3 Premier’s Debating Success
Week 4 was a busy and enjoyable week for our Stage 3 Premier’s Debating Challenge Team.
On Tuesday, we came away with a close win against Wallerawang Public School, by successfully arguing that primary schools should not change to a four-day week. On Friday, we debated Blayney Public School. Our topic was that primary schools should devote one day a week to sport, health and wellbeing. It was another great debate and another win for us, but this time as the affirmative team.
Congratulations to Maya (first speaker), Kaydence (second speaker and team advisor), Hailey (third speaker) and Isabelle and Aaria who took turns as fourth speaker. Thank you to Eeva for being our chairperson and Aaria and Isabelle, who also took turns as timekeeper.

Class of the Week - Term 3, Week 3 - 1-2 Lilac
1-2 Lilac have welcomed their new teacher with beautiful behaviour, excellent attention and a positive approach to their schoolwork.
We have been busy building relationships and making connections, particularly through our morning circle, helping to create a warm and welcoming classroom environment.
In Literacy, we are learning how to persuade others and apply persuasive techniques in our writing through our study of Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! and Do Not Open This Book. In Mathematics, we have been developing and applying strategies for addition and subtraction.
Students have been excited to begin our Science lessons on living things, which ties in perfectly with our excursion later this term to Featherdale Sydney Wildlife Park.
Keep up the fantastic work, 1-2 Lilac!
