GIRLS FOOTBALL
Yesterday our under 14’s and under 16’s Girls tackle football teams travelled to Bathurst to compete in the Country Cup.
This was most of the girls first experience at tackle football and they all showed exceptional courage and determination.
The under 14’s played extremely well in both their games but unfortunately didn’t progress to the finals.
The under 16’s had some convincing wins, showing lots of skill with some great tries. All the girls played fantastic considering most were new to tackle. They represented our school with pride.

A big thank you to all the parents and carers who transported the students to Bathurst and supported the girls all day from the sideline.
Congratulations and thank you to Micheal Mjadwesch who refereed on the day and was selected to referee the under 16’s final.

Bring on next year!!

OPEN TENNIS
On a foggy Wednesday in Bathurst, the boys and girls tennis teams competed in the Western Region Top 8 Finals.

In the quarter-finals, the boys faced a strong Orange High School side and were defeated 8 sets to 0. The girls played a closely contested match against Henry Lawson High School, going down 5 sets to 3 after several competitive match ups.

Both teams then moved into the consolation rounds. The boys played a well-matched contest against Cowra High School, fighting hard to secure a 4-all draw. Unfortunately, they were unable to progress, losing on a countback of games.

The girls took on Mudgee in their consolation match and showed great sportsmanship throughout the contest. Despite their efforts, they were unable to come away with a win.

All players represented the school with pride, and the teams should be proud of their efforts.

SCHOOL TOUR WITH MR TOOLE MP
Mr Paul Toole MP visited our school today, returning after attending our Business Breakfast earlier this term to spend more time exploring the first phase of our major school improvements.

Mr Toole toured a range of upgraded learning spaces and saw firsthand how the $6 million investment in our school is transforming facilities and creating modern, future-focused learning environments for our students. It was a great opportunity to showcase the progress made to date and share our vision for the future as we continue to invest in high-quality facilities and innovative programs.

We thank Mr Toole for taking time out of his busy schedule to visit and learn more about the exciting developments taking place at our school.

SUBJECT SELECTION – YEAR 11 2027
Ms Shaw met with Year 10 students today who were unable to attend last week’s Subject Selection Information Evening, providing them with important information to support their subject choices for Year 11.

We encourage all parents and carers to discuss subject selections with their child to help them make informed decisions about their future pathways.

Next term, every student will participate in a careers counselling interview with an executive staff member, alongside a parent or carer. Appointments can be booked through the Sentral Parent Portal. Please note: Only one 20min booking is required.

Students who attended the information evening were rewarded with some snacks and an opportunity to spend time with their Year Advisor.

OPEN BOYS BASKETBALL
Last Wednesday 11th June, our Open boys basketball team travelled to Orange to compete in the NSW Basketball schools tournament.

First game was against Macquarie Anglican Grammar School 1. Our boys started slow but ended the game with some great shots and fast breaks. We came away with the win 44-26. The first game was a forfeit so we progressed through to the semi finals.

The semi final saw us up against Macquarie Anglican Grammar School 2. We put on a pleasing display of skill and defence to come away with a convincing 55-19 win.

The final saw us back up against Macquarie Anglican Grammar School 1. Another convincing performance saw our boys take the game 61-9. Winning the gold medal and progressing to the State Championships in Castle Hill next week.

Our Open Girls have also qualified for the State Championships next week and we wish both teams all the best!

FUTURESKILLS HSC PROGRAM – The Next Step Begins!
A huge thank you to the students, parents and carers who attended our recent FutureSkills HSC Information Session at Lithgow Workman’s Club. It was fantastic to see so much interest in the opportunities available through this innovative program.

Over the coming weeks, our FutureSkills students will be taking the next important step in their journey by reaching out to local businesses and organisations to arrange work experience placements. These placements provide students with valuable industry exposure and can often lead to school-based traineeships or apprenticeships, helping them build skills, confidence and career pathways while completing their HSC.

Community Notice:
You may receive a phone call, email or visit from one of our students seeking a work experience opportunity. We encourage our local businesses and employers to consider supporting these young people as they explore future career options and develop workplace skills.

By opening your doors to a student, you are helping to build the future workforce of our community and giving a young person the chance to discover their potential.

If you are an employer interested in hosting a FutureSkills student for work experience or would like more information about the program, please contact the school.

Together, we can create meaningful pathways from school to employment and support our students to achieve their future goals.
