Our Lady Help of Christians Parish School

This week, Year 3 proudly invited Year 4 to be a special audience for their published writing. Year 3 have been working hard to bring their writing to life through the use of figurative language, and they were excited to share their finished pieces. Year 4 listened enthusiastically as the young authors read their work aloud, enjoying the wonderful language, creativity and effort on display. It was a fantastic morning of sharing learning, building confidence and celebrating achievements.

Last week, our MacK Youth group visited St. Joseph's Nursing Home twice as part of our ongoing partnership.

As you can see from the photos, these visits bring so much joy to both the students and residents. From shared stories to plenty of smiles, we love seeing these generational connections grow.

Our wonderful Year 1 students led a beautiful Liturgy on Friday as we celebrated the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

With their reverent prayers, joyful singing and beaming smiles, they helped our school community reflect on Mary’s faithful “yes” to God and her journey to heavenly glory.

We are incredibly proud of our youngest leaders for sharing their faith and inspiring us all.

Huge news for our STEM innovators!

Last week, four of our incredible student teams represented DLCS at the 2026 STEM MAD Competition, using science, technology, engineering and math to tackle real-world problems while living out Catholic Social Teaching principles.
The judges were blown away by the passion, empathy and technical skill behind every single project.

A MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS to team 'Family Pro', who has been selected to represent DLCS at the CNA STEM MAD National Showcase this November.

We are beyond proud of all our teams for their hard work, creativity, and dedication.

After the fantastic success of the first-ever Community and Schools Mass to be held in Our Lady Help of Christians Parish, we are excited to announce it is remaining in our parish for the next celebration.

What a joyful evening celebrating our students as they received the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Surrounded by family, sponsors and our parish community, these young people affirmed their commitment to their faith and accepted the gifts of the Holy Spirit. A big thank you to all those who have supported them along the way.

We are excited to announce that in Week 5, our school will be participating in Bullying No Way: National Week of Action from August 17th to 21st, 2026.

This year’s theme is ‘Small acts, big impact,’ a wonderful reminder that even the simplest gestures of kindness, inclusion and courage can make a world of difference in someone's day.

Throughout the week, our students will engage in interactive lessons and meaningful activities designed to reinforce the importance of kindness, respect and standing up for one another.

Congratulations to our most recent GOTCHA! recipient, Curtis.

The GOTCHA! Awards celebrate students who live out our school values each day by being Respectful, Responsible, Learners and Safe.

Curtis was caught showing great character by always being a kind, caring person and helping others.

This week, our MacK Youth Group was delighted to recommence visits to the residents of St Joseph's Nursing Home.

With more than a quarter of Our Lady Help of Christians students now involved in MacK Youth, the group has grown so significantly that we were fortunate to visit twice this week, allowing more students the opportunity to spend time with the residents.

Through conversation, laughter, games and shared moments, our students experienced the joy of building meaningful connections across generations. These visits are a powerful reminder that even the simplest acts of kindness, presence and listening can make a lasting difference.

As a Catholic school community, we are grateful for the opportunity to serve others and to learn from the wisdom, stories and experiences of our elders. We thank the residents and staff at St Joseph's for their warm welcome and look forward to many more visits throughout the year as we continue to grow in faith, compassion and community.

On Thursday, our school community gathered in prayer to celebrate NAIDOC Week and to honour the rich history, culture and spirituality of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.

Inspired by this year's themes, 50 Years of NAIDOC and Walking Together in Christ, we reflected on the enduring strength of First Nations cultures, the importance of listening deeply and our shared call to build communities of justice, reconciliation and hope.

May we continue to walk together with humility, respect and compassion, learning from the wisdom of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and striving to create a future where everyone is valued, included and welcomed.
