Student Centre Assistant – 50 roles
An urgent job opportunity which is perfect for people that either want a side-gig or stay at home mums looking to come back to work. This opportunity is truly amazing and is ongoing – with a level of HEO4, presents as a career entry role with the potential for future career pathway development.
A rare opportunity has arisen within our organisation where there will be at least 50 casual positions that are available, doing at least 10-15 hours per week.
The role is providing support to students – so really important that we get as many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders in these roles. This is a great opportunity for stay at home mums that are wanting to ease back into work or are interested in building a career at USyd – as it can open many opportunities down the track. A HEO4 is a career entry level – and the role is ongoing.

The Student Centre provides customer service, information, advice and referral about a broad range of matters relating to your time at University. This includes course options and admissions, student cards, fees, enrolment, timetables, examinations, special consideration, study abroad and exchange, and graduation. The Casual Student Centre Assistant role is fantastic Work from Home opportunity offering flexibility and convenience to the successful applicant. Hours available are between 7am and 7pm or 10am – 2pm Monday to Friday with approx. 10-15 hours per week based on business requirements.
This role will require you to:
provide accurate and consistent information within established service and performance parameters to students, internal and external stakeholders who contact the Student Centre
respond to and resolve enquiries in an informative, accurate and timely manner;
ensuring key details are recorded in an enquiry management system for each interaction
triage enquiries accurately and in accordance with established business practice guidelines to include the effective assessment, diagnoses, prioritisation and internal escalation of more complex cases to a senior staff person for appropriate referral of issues to higher level support and advice
exercise a degree of initiative, sensitivity and sound judgement in compliance with the University’s privacy policy, legislative obligations and operating guidelines to resolve problems and manage complaints.

The Student Centre Assistant will have:
experience in working in a high volume, customer centric environment
strong organisation skills
excellent high-level communication skills - across all levels, internally and externally, verbal and written, and can make the complex simple in your daily interactions
strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office
have your own laptop and good internet access at home
Project commencement date – Tuesday 15th June 2021. During this time hands on training will be provided on campus (Camperdown) over 4 weeks and will likely be around 25 hours per week.
