Last week, students across the Diocese of Lismore Catholic Schools put curiosity into action for National Science Week.

From science fairs and student-led experiments to building electrical circuits and exploring the world around them, students had plenty of opportunities to investigate, problem-solve and discover how science shapes everyday life.

It was wonderful to see students asking questions, testing ideas and sharing their discoveries with their school communities.

Students and staff at St Joseph's Alstonville recently brought the words of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop to life, celebrating her feast day with a special day of service across their school and local community.

From spending time with aged care residents and visiting local early learning centres to planting gardens, creating artworks and caring for their school environment, every year group found a meaningful way to serve others.

This Bullying No Way Week, we’re highlighting the everyday actions that help create kinder, safer and more inclusive school communities across the Diocese of Lismore Catholic Schools.

This year’s theme, Small Acts, Big Impact, reminds us that making a positive difference can start with something simple. A kind word, inviting someone to join in, checking in on a friend, listening to others or having the courage to speak up can have a greater impact than we realise.

Throughout the week, our schools will continue conversations about kindness, respect and the important role we all play in looking out for one another.

Congratulations to our Year 12 Vice Captain, Sophie, who represented Newman College at the NSW Parliament Regional Roadshow in Macksville yesterday. Sophie took to the stage, sharing her voice with MPs and inspiring the next generation of regional leaders. Way to go, Sophie!

Outstanding results on the national stage for Mt St Patrick College students Audrey and Tim at the School Sport Australia Swimming Championships.

🥇 Audrey had an exceptional meet, claiming four gold medals in the 50m Backstroke, 100m Backstroke, 200m Backstroke and NSW Mixed Medley Relay, as well as silver in the NSW Girls Medley Relay.

🥇 Tim also delivered an outstanding performance, earning gold in the NSW Boys Medley Relay, silver in both the 50m and 100m Butterfly, and bronze in the NSW Mixed Medley Relay, alongside two fourth-place finishes in Backstroke.

An incredible display of determination from both swimmers. We are so proud to see our students achieving their best on the national stage!

Congratulations to Trinity Catholic College Lismore Year 10 student Ayla Kowalczyk on an incredible achievement, claiming bronze in the Women’s T38 Long Jump at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

With her sixth and final jump, Ayla produced a new personal best of 4.71m to secure her place on the podium alongside fellow Australian Layla Sharp.

After weeks of dedicated training and preparation in Australia and Europe, Ayla’s determination and hard work paid off when it mattered most on the international stage.

We are incredibly proud to see students like Ayla striving for their personal best and representing their school and community with such dedication.
