LSS Families!

Worryingly, we are seeing a growing number of students arriving at school tired and unable to maintain attention, and this is beginning to impact learning and achievement.

Children need around 9–11 hours of sleep each night, with most requiring close to 10 hours to function well at school.

Screen use before bed and access to devices overnight are contributing to poor sleep. Some students have shared that they are using devices when they should be sleeping.

Simple routines make a difference.
1. Wind down early
2. Remove devices at night
3. Prioritise sleep.

Well-rested students are more focused, engaged and ready to learn.

Please support your students' learning and overall health by ensuring that they receive ~10 hours of quality sleep each night.

Our senior students had a fantastic time attending the Somerset Regional Council Community Meeting this morning. The students engaged in conversations over morning tea with our councillors and the executive team then sat in for part of the regular meeting. Thank you for having us!

Students in Years 3 and 5 will take part in NAPLAN in March 2026.

The main thing to remind your kids? Just give it their best shot. A calm environment, a good night’s sleep, and a few words of encouragement can make a big difference.

NAPLAN is simply a way to see what they’re doing well and where they might need a little extra support.

NAPLAN 2026 runs from 11–23 March.

📢 New social media restrictions now in effect

Australian children under 16 can no longer create or keep certain social media accounts under new federal laws. This isn’t a ban—it’s a delay to help young people develop safer, healthier digital habits. It’s part of the Australian Government’s effort to improve online safety and protect young people from harm.

Please note, we will continue to use this platform to share school updates and announcements as usual.
